Crisco at the time was a Procter & Gamble product. Loretta Lynn's childhood home in Butcher Hollow/Van Lear, Kentucky, was a 200-mile, 3-1/2 hour drive to P&G's Cincinnati headquarters.
Glad to have met Mooney and Loretta! As well as spent great times on the West side of The Big island of Hawaii together.Wonderful people.R.I.P.Mooney.a hui hou........Shakahz!
Note that the announcer uses only 3 words to describe Crisco. One is "all-natural" (which, as a hyphenated word, might be considered one description). The other is "digestible". Well praise be!
Yes, they do still make Crisco. You can still get fried chicken @ such places as Kentucky Fried Chicken (also known as KFC), Church's, and Popeye's. You might have to search far and wide to find anyone who fries it at home, though.
@A1l2l2e2n4 Some of us Alabama Belles still fry chicken for "special occasions" lol....like if the whole family is getting together, or for a picnic. We have to watch our girlish figures so fried chicken isn't something we can eat often. I grill mine, for the most part.
well, i read somewhere when crisco came out in 1911, it the first shortening that wasn't lard. and people often got sick from lard, it's pork fat and might not be stored properly. i rarely fry anything though. it's bad for you, and i hate cleaning it up. but, crisco in the tub makes great fried chicken and fries. i think i only fry on fat tuesday, my kids think it's a treat.
