yeah they were all outboard marine company, until toro bought them out and made there crappy V engine the F engine people say was the best one and most common they built
@1997FordProbeGT The carbs on the F series are about as simple of a carb as you can make, same for the engine. The technology is from 1950's era outboard marine motors. But guess what? The F was good enough to be used for over 20 years! Once you turn up the wick a bit on those motors and get them into the actual powerband, they have more torque than anything you can buy these days by far. My '79 is impossible to bog once it's in the power
@1997FordProbeGT what's to hate about them? They are one of if not the longest lasting mower out there. You dont find people collecting and selling 20-30 year old toros and hondas. I replaced my perfectly fine '81 LB with a brand new '01 Toro recycler 10yrs ago. Toro makes a great mower, the Briggs Quantum is bulletproof. But I missed my LB so last year I bought a '79 7268 from a guy for 70 bucks....runs like a top, cuts better than the Toro and weighs half as much. Sold the Toro!!
I personally prefer 2 stroke lawn-boy mowers. But they dont make 2 stroke anymore!! If you want a good brand new lawnboy, Go with the lawnboy's with the honda engine!!

@1997FordProbeGT What tecumseh 2 strokes are you talkin about? They never made them for lawnboys, it was Iron Horse, OMC and then Toro.
