Haha, no... It is an open air Jazz Festival up in the Romanian mountains. They played around midnight and althought it was summer, the temperature was close to 32F (0C) by that time... Sweat + cold = steam, not smoke :). Anyway, the bass solo was simply amazing.. I was there, but didn't payed attention at the poor drummer...
Victor turns back to see the drummer, Dude this is my solo, i dont need the beat, I already have it. the drummer is messing the whole feeling of the song.
@FrostiePigeon im pretty sure its a bass chord. for example a high D octave with an A in the middle (should be three notes, D A and D in that order) but in this case he (in whatever key he is in) is (in the key i showed you) playing a D A C# instead.
I saw him Live twice...He is just Genius on the bass...He doesn't need to look at the neck...He just feel it! He is one of the GREATEST bass player ever live! GROOVE - GROOVE - GROOVE
How thick should the strings be in order for him not to master them like a Spanish guitar? Thick as a python? :D Saw him live once, he's great, respect!
I couldn't even begin to have my mind think to create such a masterpiece. It would appear I have to get this book, not so much for the music but the information in the book.
i actually just ordered it after watching this. question tho, is this an actual song recorded on an album or something, or is this just a solo at the jazzfest? im wondering if i can get an album with this song on it
this is his song "the lesson" that is made of the music at the beginning of each chapter of his book. very nicely performed i must say. i tried to play it but it didnt sound like this lol
yeah i bought his new book "the music lesson" and at the beginning of each chapter there is a measure of the song. there's only like twelve chapters though, so most of this is improv solos and stuff. its in sheet music form, not tabs. when you put all the measures together, you get the basic melody with the chord changes written on top. i don't know how to put the chords into harmonics like vic, so i don't play it right. maybe one day...
yeah, it is different from the normal music lesson books out there. first of all, it's in the form of a novel, not just notes and techniques. And it has a lot of info about music. It doesn't explain any of victor's techniques, but he shares his ideas of music that helped him perfect those techniques. His book is like his music: a little weird, but amazingly good. It made me a much better musician.

What did Anthony do in the beginning with the peg? It didn't really sound like he changed the tuning of the string at all.

Can someone please explain to me why the drummers HEAD IS SMOKING???
Romans10Verse9 2 years ago
its because the band is performing outside and all the heat is escaping from his head. its sort of like when u see your breath when its cold outside

Ahhh, thanks. I figured it was something like that.

What type of bass is he using? I don't think I've seen him use that one before.
fairyturd2001 3 years ago
It looks like a new Fodera, definitely a Tenor, cause his lowest open string is an A. He's actually up a fourth from the recorded version.

Nebunie a fost. Desi nu is chiar cel mai mare fan al fratelui maestrului Wooten, care a performat la chitara foarte bizar.
