You can't base what you know from the anime and assume it is exactly the same in the manga. They do but Kikyo is fine with how things end up. You would have to get the Manga. Get it. It is worth it. I actually found it online to read without having to buy it but it is online so .. well you could print out every page I guess .... But yeah get it! Worth it.
