One thing that cannot be faulted is the absolute diehard committment to the ALP and all who serve it.
No matter what the lies, no matter what the spin, no matter what the waste, no matter what the failure, no matter what the disappointment, the stoogers are there to fly the banner of the ALP high and proud..............
tards, money from the mining sector is essential to Australia's future and the mining industry have had it way to easy for far to long under a soft Liberal government and John Howard riding a boom time. However they shouldnt have used a tax system, but take more money from states via GST and force the states to make up the difference by increasing royalties on minerals
I love these Ads. I was sitting on the fence on who to vote for. Apart from these ads being so funny they steap the truth. You won me. My vote will be going to either Bob Brown or Julia Gillard. Fair go to the little guy not to the top 5% Billionaires.
"and we introduce Il Presidente Gillard, of the Republic of RSPTLand......formerly Orstralia.... Please sit next to Mr Mugabe there and compare recipes for disaster"
If Julia has a belief in "Ownership and control of production, distribution and exchange," then she has no place in public office. The concept of stealing a nations assets and giving them to the state is just not on.
for those saying 'we' own those resources - do 'we' own the air, the beach, the rivers, etc etc? Yet people use those everyday to make a living. this is an old fashioned attempt at class warfare - don't fall for it
@MrCoconutCurry Most of the Labor members are from some Union , Admin, Public Service background and used to living high off the hog unlike the average Australian.

Labor is fatally tied to the Unions when Mr Howes of the AWU seems to be a Queen maker and no one objects to that unseemly sight - a blight on our democracy
Question: What % of the minerals in the ground are owned by ordinary Australians you deserve a fair share of the profits that come from those minerals.
and so how much did you personally spend getting said minerals OUT of the ground? They don't mine themselves after all. That is just like saying that I deserve a cut of profits from all the tour groups that go to see Uluru, simply because I am an Australian citizen and Uluru is a part of my country. We are not a communist country, therefore the minerals belong to whoever has bought the land that they exist upon... If you want to buy that land and pay to mine it, go ahead!
@samkun88 it's the LAW. Since 1855 ,in Australia, all minerals belong to the Crown in right of the State. No freehold title since then can confer ownership of the minerals themselves. that's why mining companies have to obtain exploration licences and leases to mine anything. having an opinion is one thing , being completely wrong is another.
@activeaustralia Absolutely CORRECT! The mining companies only have a lease (which is like a licence) to mine- they don't own the land usually, and even if you do own the land, you have to get permission to mine. Amazingly, governments in Australia continue to grant mining rights to mining companies, even when the land is prime agricultural or threatened environmental land and belongs to someone else or even undermines geographic structures in national parks!
@activeaustraliabs, even if the government takes it from the miners, doesnt mean its going to end up back in any of our pockets. anyone who thinks that believes that labor still represents working class ppl, what a joke! Miners have mass capital, hence the reason they stand to make so much, them being in that position hasn't happen by chance. They are not stupid and are not going to be taxed twice by AUS when else where in the world are much more welcoming to the other gains mining provides

Swan has really used his Arts degree to it fullest capacity. Labors and union demands will continue to wreak havock on Australian jobs
Ask Labor where are the manufacturing industry jobs from 30 years ago
You get a blank stare
Ask them where are the mining jobs in 10-15 years time
You will get another blank stare
New ALP fools dont know
Old ALP fools never learn

"Ask them where are the mining jobs in 10-15 years time"
Unlike manufacturing jobs, you can't export mining jobs. You can't pick up the the natural resources in Australia and put them in China.

Labor and Greens know only how to spend
Spend
Someone else has to make that money they want to spend
And if business runs out they look to us and Tax Tax Tax
Very simple
Very socialist
They will never ever set about making the money they need and want to spend
They will always just take

What percentage of mining company shares are owned by every day people?
Eriksz 1 year ago
@Eriksz I would say that practically every worker in this country owns mining shares through their superannuation.
