89-93 - Golden Era for this funky, deep dub house sound. So many classic tunes from this period that just shit all over almost everything coming out these days.
Does anyone know what the other version of this is called, with extended version of the sample. I think it goes "Dance to the rhythm of the beat will make you crazy"?
Thank you for posting this wonderful house music. It's annoying some of the classic house music from other users I'm subscribed to has been taken down, but thankfully this has stayed. :)
Another Strictly gem! I recall that when i bought this 12", another record came out that same day called "Slam Jam" (no, nothing to do w. Ram Jam) which was also amazing. The music being produced back then was SO GOOD (most of it anyhow) that i used to leave the record shops w. at least 20 records per week!
omg!!!!!andre, i miss those days..... im dj rudeboys( aka sean sweeney) lil sister, and i was the cigarette girl on sundays @ avalon. ......and dont forget the LOFT!!!!!!
why did i take so long to hear this one? just what i like from strictly. it sounds a lot like some newer styles today...just goes to show that amazing music is eternal
Who is the original singer to Dance to the Rhythm...I heard the song about a week ago but didnt get the artist name...THis a cool remix...but if u can tell me the original artist i would deeply appreciate it
this is not funny at all i know dance to the rythm and step to the music all togetthere we shine i miss that song so much troy plz make a better song anyway by dance to the rythem and step to the music all togetthere we shine yeeeeeeaaaaaaaah
Strictly THE SHIT! You could bang Strictly records for an hour straight if you wanted to back in the day. That's the sound of HARDWARE baby! Some drum machines, samplers, outboard effects. Basement science all the way!
that is no lie, I used to go to the record store, and just pick up Strictly records on GP, didn't have to listen to it before I knew it was banging...and Louie used to rock these cuts at the Sound Factory Bar in the early to mid 90's. Damn, i miss those days
right on!!! banged this out @ many clubs in UK back in early 90's all time fuckin classic G's on the mix ..samples from a track on Polar records called "Alright"
I love this because it is 100% pure, early 90's, NY underground with that spooky, elegant vibe that was never commercial, and not intended for raves, or retail background music. This was music made for small, dark dance clubs, for city dancers and voguers, and for New York! Thank you Kenny (17 years later!)!
Great track!! I agree with you about Strictly Rhythm: must of my favorite house tracks happened to be on the same label-not a coincidence. Around '92-'94, I'd pick up stacks of Strictly Rhythm singles and sort them later at home. There were always several winners in there..
Amen to that. Strictly and Nervous both were so amazingly solid during this period. I have maybe 2.5 crates of strictly and nervous from this period and I can't bring myself to part with ANY of it. None. Too many memories. Too much a part of me. :] It's really kind of sad how things changed.

Sounds so contemporary too; hasn't aged a bit. Amazing.
I notice that it comes from Kenny Dope in one of his many aliases. Figures!
