  • Damn shame you wont RELEASE US A FUCKING DEMO TO PLAY WITH IT!I'm not buying either of the SW:FU games because of pixelux's faggotry over the matter of releasing a free little demo to fuck around in.

  • How long did this take to render? 2 months?

  • Damn mexicans.

  • Why don't games use this advanced physics?

  • @jaskamakkara

Physics take up huge amount of processing power. This specific scene wouldn't of been done in real-time, which is what video games require. This would of been rendered frame by frame.

  • @theAYLEEYUN When do you think we'll see these kind of physics in games?

  • what about geomod 2.0

  • I would like if there was a Garry's Mod-like physics sandbox based in this. :P

  • Hahah. If that had been a meteor, there wouldn't be much left of that railroad, not to mention the immediate area! That said, I love the feel of the track. Looks really good, and doesn't behave in any apparent weird way at any point during the animation. Solid work.

  • A really slow meteor :)

  • DAMN NATURE! U SCARY!

  • holy shit looks realistic even without real textures

  • i want to see DMM in every game from now on

  • Nice!

  • it would be awsome if a train was on the track

  • DAMN MONGOLIANS!!

  • yea but it was never that good in the games. The physics were dumbed down alot for other processes such as AI, Rendering, Post Effects, Shaders, Textures, Models, bla bla bla.

  • edit in leonidas's face from 300 onto that thing and this video will win

  • Too bad they squandered it.

  • This can be done on source sdk but it looks pretty decent for counter strike and other maps. I'm not saying this isn't better or not as good, I'm just saying if you know what you doing you can name something look good.

  • If it becomes the holocaust before we get awesome games that has DMM then im gonna Überrage.

  • ouha beautiful

  • Imagine this incorporated into a Source engine game.......i mean they already have great physics, but this plus Source is like......Half Life 3 0_0

  • @JuniorProducer1996 thousands of colliding objects like that would be an epic amount of lag

but at the start of episode 2, they have sort of cinmatic physics, where they can prerender animations like this and put them in source (like the bridge or the sawmill at the end)

  • @Thedeoradude

Then the baked animation would work well

  • well done

  • The ball (or rock) kind of rolls around and takes to long to settle, just something I noticed. Still, amazing tech.

  • i wish garrys mod was this good...

  • If it was on my computer, it would lag and EXPLODE!

  • @r3ini It actually won't lag, u prove it wrong. this engine is going to be heavily optimised for games like really. just download force unleashed but i'm not talking about this heavy simulation. i hopefully think this simulation specificly might not work good during gaming.

  • they should have these type of physics in games!!

  • Thats really nice and I can't wait to see it in games on a realistically consistant and coherant basis.

That would be a real revolution in the way we play games.

  • As soon as this can properly work in a real video game, I will die happy.

  • @LamentOfInnocence1 its in star wars the force unleashed

  • @123ilikecheese456

Yeeeaaahhhhh no. That game was shit, and the physics in it were shit.

  • This looks pretty awsaume.

  • imagine it happens in real life. with trains on it. and people. LOTS of people.

  • hope this is realtime

  • @MilosCsrb The point of DMM is realtime physics processing. An upgrade to the current physics technologies. It's still software though, sadly enough. We won't get nice hardware physics going until NVidia decides that it doesn't want to hinder the gaming industry anymore.

  • Oh

    Oh god

    Cum everywhere.

  • wat program di U use?

  • very nice, are the sleepers on the track constrained or something? is the track bending?

is this made our of lots of pre-broken peices or is it shattered dynamicly?

  • @willpreston It is dynamically shattered using the Pixelux's Digital Molecular Matter

  • It's beautifull!

  • lol I wish xD

  • So Essentially. They are trying to integrate programming into smaller and smaller parts of graphics...

Ex. Back in the day you would progarm the charecter as a wholes sprite

then with ragdoll phsics it was different body parts

and now they are trying to do it at the molecular level/pixel level?

  • yes, first the physics systems, then the immersion. when VR comes online/of age you'll see how much pixels resemble atoms. next 10 years for sure!

  • Comment removed

  • Well, I like this engine the best. Most of the others make everything look like rubber; this one has a hardness to the bounces and collisions.

  • LEETLE MEN STOPPED PUYSHING KART!

  • lol

  • It's being released by AMD/Pixelux as an open source physics engine for any platform but AMD/ATI will make use of it to do physics on DirectX 11 'compute shader' capable video cards. RIP Physx.

  • Uhm. No it's not. Open source is the last thing DMM is gonna be.

  • Well it's going in to the bullet physics engine

  • Yes. But that's far from making DMM open source.

  • That was awesome

  • You can pay out the ass for it, it's a commercial physics engine for video games...

  • and the sound?

    is it anything dynamic?

  • It is rendered duh, they just baked the physics tho, to show u

  • OMG i saw how much it was to buy this program and it is $400.00

  • my computer would shit brix if it tried to do that.

  • Meteor? More like a giant inflatable ball!

Nice physics, nice render, shame about the poor mass/density setup.

  • downloading dmm and maya 2009... hehe... im gonna try to make little game with the physics, hehe...

  • THIS NEEDS PUT IN MORE GAMES.

I was very suprised that this was only in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

I thought this would turn out to be in all the newest games.

It's very dissapointing that Crysis missed this.

  • no...crytek use theyr own physic.

    search for your facts

  • can this be done in real time?

  • yeah

  • IT IS

  • This example isn't real time though. Looks like a mental ray render with final gather on.

  • that was pretty awesome,... but making a train crash right after the boulder would make it even more realistic ['3

  • That's great! but calling it a meteor? hahaha!

  • Call me a luddite, but that realism actually disturbed me a little bit.

  • No... lag... o_o

  • brill pysics but can i just buy/download a simulator with just these physics anywhere? and don't yell at me about the link in descripition i can see that but that doesn't take me to a download so if any1 can help itd be apperated

  • You can buy it as a plug-in for Maya from the website in the description, or get it as a free trial, though buying it is several thousand dollars. If you want a game with DMM, buy Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It doesn't come close to using it to its full potential, if only to keep the player from destroying the entire level, but it does have plenty of cool shit, especially the wood in the first level.

  • Possible some of the best physics I have ever seen.

  • They're even better than real life.

  • lol

isnt the point to be as realistic as possible?

  • @shakensparco I've seen physics that are 100% realistic. If you want to see them all you have to do is Look out your window. ;)

  • @shakensparco Possible the best grammar I have ever seen.

  • @wardley13 Actually it's a spelling mistake, not grammatical.

  • @shakensparco Well, actually possible isn't in adverbial form, so yes, it is a grammar mistake.

  • jimp.

  • Are the sound effects in this video from DMM too?

  • NO i don't think so.

  • No. DMM provides physics and only physics. All sound effects are added by the users of the program.

  • A'ight. Thanks for the answer.

  • so, what's the different between DMM and normal reactor?

  • I love this in high quality. :D

  • Damn i love this Technology

  • Holy crap :D

  • pixeluxentertainmentcom/forum. php

they need more people in thair forums

  • Hi I found this in thair FORUMS

    Hi!

    Thanks for all the messages!

We currently have a viewer that is a simple 3D engine that displays DMM objects in real time. We can export a complete Maya scene (only the DMM objects at the moment) and load using this real time viewer and then move around and throw stuff.

We plan to release that tool in the future, however we can't release anything before october 1st because of our contract with Lucas Arts.

Thanks for the support, we'll keep you updated!

  • in Red Faction: Guerilla for PS3 and 360, everything is destructible like so. yes, "EVERYTHING" from buildings, vehichles... yes... even the ground! played it at E3. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

  • LoL is that suppost to hold a train ? :Þ

  • is the sound renderered together with the physics? or do you have to make your own sounds and play them at the good moment?

  • I don't know, but I imagine it plays a sound every time the wood fractures or a strong collision occurs.

  • You'll need to add your own sounds.

  • i would literally pay 100 dollars just to throw boulders at the tressels. Not only will this be in the force unleashed, but also half life 3

ya, i said half life 3

  • haha, half life 3 has NOT been confirmed yet, but if it comes, I know what it will use: the same as star wars (DMM, Euphoria and havok) but since it has not been confirmed (altho I hope ep3 wont be the end) its likely

  • I <3 AO

  • HALF LIFE 3!!

  • ohh, yes it will be like this :)

  • what do you mean, by properly?

  • It's going to be in Indiana Jones and Star Wars The Force Unleashed.

  • Except most of the stuff in the Force Unleashed isn't infused with DMM. :(

  • well yes... they couldn't make the whole level collapse no? :)

  • yeah, but in the demo, only the blast doors and one type of girder were deformable...and only to a certain extent, though it was pretty realistic in those two instances. :/

  • well phiniusmaster that was only the demo and it took like 5mins to beat and its not even the whole level...i wouldn't get so down on those two subjects...i am sure there are way more things that have some really intense dmm

  • it's allright, this is the force unleashed is still going to be the best SW game ever. and there's no point of making the tie fighter facility fully destructible if you're in space. plus, it wouldn't reward in such a way that you'd always want to break something, instead it might become a bother after awhile. but if you wanna look foward to a game where "everything" is fully destructible, i'd say check out Red Faction: Geurilla. everything from buildings, vehicles and even the ground destruct!

  • yeah but correct me if im wrong but RF:G doesn't have any technology like DMM: its just small objects stuck together and you can separate these objects, just like any other game, but on a larger scale.

  • that is indeed a good qeustion :) i'm not sure, i would hope everything has it's own molecular system in RF:G - hopefully one far more advanced and expanded than the one in Force Unleashed, Battlefield: Bad Company or Half Life 2. Either way tho, it should be pretty exciting.

  • from what i've seen from RF:G every time you break something it is different every time. i think they will have real mass and volume properties as well as density (for water and other liquads) applied to all individual object physics in the game but who knows

  • wuts RF:G?

  • Red Faction: Guerrilla

  • i cant w8 ^^

  • no its not. RFG has its own engine. DMM is used only in one game right now and thats some star wars sht.

  • yeah Lucus arts has made it so only they can have dmm, but I think Havok have a destruction engine too now. But anyway from the videos it seems there is no advanced destruction engine anyway.

lol, who thumbed me down for saying RF:G stood for Red Faction: Guerilla.

  • This is pretty impressive

  • That's TRUE NEXT-GEN ! Not just nicer graphics, that's revolutionary !

  • finally something really NEW on gaming area eh? crytec said that crysis would be big an have loads of new shit... this beats it when it comes to "new"

  • I wish The Force Unleashed would come out soon! It's such detailed destruction. I wonder if game developers will have to set points at where the object will break, or if it decides by itself.

  • thats the whole point it will destory anyway possible as if it were in real life

  • realtime????

  • Supposedly.

  • Yep, this is realtime.

  • sure not !?

The AO is too good and the sound matches too perfectly. This is rendered, I'm sure

  • Wow.. just wow.

If only this was avaliable as a program to download..

  • It is. There is a plugin for Maya that you can download as a 30-day Trial.
