What developers couldn't do, digital did. As of Dec. 31st, 2012, no more film prints will be made. Digital projectors can't fill that large a screen from that distance. RIP drive-ins.
Where I live, there is an empty lot where the STAR LITE once stood. The NORTHSIDE and M78 DRIVE INS are also empty lots. The CREST is now a parking lot for the church that tore it down. So sad to hear about this one, careyleefisher hit it right on the nail. Condos can be built ANYWHERE, once the CINDERELLA TWIN is demolished, an irreplaceable landmark will be needlessly abandoned and destroyed. Shame on the developers and city officials> Thanks for posting.
So, they take away something that everyone, regardless of status and income, can enjoy and replace it with a "gated" community built for upper income residents?
