I think nintendo games though may appear less succesful or sofisticated. They happen to be more timeless and much more aproachable. Think about the aesthetic and the soundtrack of many popular games like those in PS3 and 360. Sure they are so much more trendy, but, for instance, I grew up playing nintendo and many kids do. They grow up loyal and have more interest in playability or exclusives like zelda and mario, than the outmost technologic innovation.

The Wii did the same thing with a wand-shaped motion based controller. It managed to survive well as a gimmick, but the Wii was (and is) a gimmick. And so, this will be. Frankly, the DS is too, possibly one of my favorite gimmicks ever. Two screens? One with touch? Hell yeah, I can get down with that. Incredibly fun system. Still a gimmick.

You can imagine I loved this with a passion. But this isn't what E3 is about. E3 is about releasing information about anticipated or upcoming video games, to get our blood pumping. The orchestra was beautiful; I just feel it was used inappropriately as filler, though.
