  • Hey Panda... I'm digs from brazil, my english is not the best, but I wanna try to say, that when I heard the song Moscow.... my god!

i felt the life that your song have. really pretty good.... I'm your fan since that.

  • side chaining is such an important part of almost all house production

  • Nice stuff, btw, if u guys like electro-house / house, check out my channel, got some pretty sick stuff u'd like!

  • good job explaining everything,

everyone else's reason 4 videos are full of their bitchy snob ass's saying how good their beat is

  • great site for drum and bass production is dnbsamples[dot]net

  • Fuck Liz.

  • just use an upwards sawtooth lfo on the volume than you got almost the same effect

  • Why does it sound different the first time than to the end result

  • @gibsonmozart maybe he mastered it

  • Thanks alot, great tutorial mate!

  • you dutch aren't you? :D your accent.

  • I fucking hate all these ads. Makes me switch the page to another

  • yeh, google is a fucking sell out

  • also known as Stem Compression..

Nice tutorial and this can work with any DAE/DAW and with any instrument or vocals! for anyone whos reading!

  • this is program is free...?

  • no, it costs quite a bit.

  • no its not free

  • sounds shit to people who dont use it properly.

  • it will only set you back about 300 bucks...legally

  • why do you duplicate the signal instead of moving the ratio down a bit? Does it really make a difference in the end?

  • Duplicates the signal because if he just has the bass drum going into the sidechain input, he'll lose the actual kick drum sound.

When you throw it in the side-chain, it acts as a modulator, but you won't hear it. Same as using a carrier signal in a vocoder.

So, one goes to sidechain (you'll never hear the kick from this) and one goes back to a free input on the mixer so you can hear it...

  • great tutorial

  • Doesnt work for me

  • Dude, please READ!

It's just a tutorial and it says:

Panda Drum & Bass | Side Chain Compression with Propellerhead Reason 3 (ELECTRO HOUSE) <-- !!!

  • Read first and then answer. Maybe you overlooked his Video information -> Drum 'n Bass Tutorial - Using side chain .....

    Have a nice day

  • this is in title ......ELECTRO HOUSE

  • WTF that isn't the point you noob!

  • it says electro house in the title, who said it was drum and bass?

  • Panda is a dnb producer. Search for Panda - Baghdad. Get a clue before opening your mouth.

  • Excellent tutorial my friend. This explains exactly how to do side-chain with Reason.

  • It says "with Propellerhead Reason 3", its you being dumb im afraid.

  • I want this mix.

  • :P ik hoor dat je nederlands bent!!:P

  • Copy the same kik on to another drum pad and connect directly to side chain input. No need for the spider thing, your only needing to trigger the side chain. Your complicating the matter.

Will say this though. Reasons sidechain blows away Ableton's which always sounds late no matter how its set. I feel sorry for all those guys struggling away with ableton lives sidechain wondering why their chaining fx doesn't sound good.

  • But then you wouldn't hear the kick.

  • Are you thick?

You use another or the same kick in a different cell and directly connect it to the sidechain. Your not meant to hear it. This also gives the advantage that when you mute the kik drum that is supposed to be heard you can still have the side chain going if you dont want the rise in volume when the trigger is muted.

Using spider is good if you want to trigger multiple sources from the same kick.

  • u r epic

  • Had direct door dat je van NL was =D

    Goeie vid !

  • what application is this?

  • reason from propellarheads

  • dude, thanx for posting it

  • actually the breaks were on the timesplit video.lol

  • read my other comment on reese bass. u r helping me along nicely with things i didnt know.can i ask where u got those break rex files from or do u know where i can aquire them?plz get back.thanks

  • nice, i just use the volume controll to ''sidechane'' the bass. but this maybe is better hehe:)

  • hold shift thing -extremely practical!

  • this was VERY usefull for me, thx

  • Great tutorial, I never knew I could even do this until i watched this vid...great for beginniners like myself

  • thx for the tutorial man

. which vsti are you using for the synth ?

  • reason does not support VSTi

  • its not a vst, reason only uses its own inbuilt instruments. The synth he is using though is called, 'malstrom'. To use it as a vst, you would have to rewire the entire reason program through a channel in whatever sequencer you use. Otherwise, its not possible to use malstrom without reason, its a pity. Its one of the reasons i want the program

  • haha no many dutch guysmaking these tutorials, good to see

    good post

  • very good tutorial, thank you!

one question, what software do you use for your synths?

  • nice tutorial, but i i cant make that kind of sound, tried many times : /

  • Awesome tute man! would you be able to post some more? I love your music, retake manhattan song is my favourite! listen to it every day

  • Awesome! Thanks very much!

  • thats nice 5/5 stars

  • kool tut m8

  • I had been experimenting with this and basically had been doing pretty much what you're doing here ... but I was noticing you used a big mixer for the final mix, do you think there is an advantage of using this for a sidechaining application instead of a line mixer or even spider merger?

  • Hi Sabretoof. No not at all. It was just easier to show it on such a small screen with a big mixer. The signal just remains the same as I did not touch the faders of the mixer.

  • hey panda u have ur own album is that right ?

  • como se llama este programa??

    name este programa????

  • Programa es Reason

  • thanks

    muchos gracias amigo..

  • de nada...rock on :)

  • reason

  • el programa es Propellerhead Reason 3

  • @yonattan88 AAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • como se llama este programa??

  • is this legit, yes? i'm in work and can't use sound. i've been looking through forums for ages now and many folk seem to think that it cannot be done in reason. really hope it works.

  • Yes it's legit. Reason supports side chain compression.

  • Gozer, Echt super bedankt! duidelijke tutorial=)

Zou je er misschien nog een video kunnen maken over de tip's & tricks van het produceren van Electro / house?

    THANKS

    Olaf

  • Hoi Olaf, ja ik zal misschien nog een doen over electro house synths. Blijf kijken en abonneer je!

  • Soepele uitleg; topvideo's ouwe!

(je gaat soms wel een beetje snel... ;) )

  • ik meende aan je stem al te horen dat je nederlands was:P

    tnx voor de tutorial anyway;)

  • when you took the filter off at the start the main effect for me was lost... you didnt turn it back on at the end...it was missed... when i turn it on and off it does not have that effect

  • there is an easier way to achieve this. if you look on the back of a device such as the rex, you can hook up the Modulation LFO output, into the master volume, or res, and then alter the LFO rate to 1/4 (for house style compression) and then adjust via the knob on the back of the device you are modulating

  • When we say side-chain compression we mean using a compressor. Why use a work around like you propose when the actual way to do it is available. This guy shows actual side chain compression. Using an LFO isn't quite the same because it doesn't follow the volume of the kick like side chaining does.

  • This is directed towards yonirules

  • Awesome thanks man KOMPRESSOR..its the sh*t!

  • thanks, gives me something to mess with in reason til 4 comes out

  • myspace com/abeven

    mymusic dk/abeven

  • Thanks! I finally know how it works...

  • nice.. thats also known as "ducking" ?

  • you have a loud keyboard lol, thanks for the lesson

  • it sounds really awesome but I have no idea whats going on :(

  • Look & listen to the video a few times. The volume of one instrument is modified in the opposite direction by the volume of another instrument.

  • Is it not easier to use the mclass mastering suite combi?, there you can compress to.

  • yo is there a way of keeping the compression while the kick is muted?

  • you have to copy a kick on another track and put its output to the sidechain and not to the master. So you won't hear that track but it is still triggering the bass.Just always copy the trigger track with the main kick, or leave it running in breaks where you will hear the bass, etc

  • Yeah cheers ive learned it now ; )

  • nice man pretty helpful

  • cool !

    Thx
