I don't think they introduced this opening 'til maybe season 3 or 4. They kept the other one (with John Walton arriving home with the new radio) for at least two seasons.
wow! what a great series this was. i first saw it on BBC1 during the 1970's. i think this series is one of televisions highest achievements. a wonderfully warm effectionate piece of television history. great characters and simple but effective scripts. it proves you dont need 27 cameras, explosions or bad languange to hold an audience in its grasp.thank you for posting

With all our broken homes in the 70s, the divorce rate what it was then, we looked to stuff like this to make up for it I think.

I remember staying home from school and watching this show at 11am. This show always made feel so warm inside. This show was great.
