  • @masheenmaster XNA is a libary

  • Whats with us Nerds and loving Space?

  • whats XNA anyway? nice game

  • I will create a paid and a free game

  • Umm could there be a warning at the beginning of the video next time... I think I broke my headphones :( ... And my ears xD

  • rip headphone users I USE HEADPHONE

  • Can't let you do that Starfox.

  • impressive.

  • Amazing dude want to learn to make games for game design and you set the bar high my freind; and you've set the bar HIGH!!!

  • Why are you starting with 3D? Start with something simple, like a 2D arcade game. :/

  • R.I.P All headset users

  • DO A BARREL ROLL !

  • Hi buddy, I have started learning just now. In a state not even to import a model. Yours for a start is simply awesome. Put a tangent differentiation while the enemy crashes. and please teach me too :D

Hoping for your or any XNA programmer to reply to my post

    Regards

    Sidharth

  • Theres no gravity in space so how do they fall!?

  • Is XNA free

  • Plzz make a tutorial on have to make the asteroids think many people should won't that.

  • galaxians!

  • duck hunt in space

  • jesus this is good :D

  • 3D Space Invaders :D

  • الله يوفقك

  • Theres to muc clutter on the screen, easy to get confused. But its a very good start.

  • hey dude can u temme wht programming language u learnt beafore writing codes in XNA ...

  • They're falling, in space.

  • Lack of physics OVR: GREAT GAME

  • 16 people must be kids...because how can someone rate this bad? its nice for just one person!

  • nice work dude.. i just finished up making solar system simulation with all the moons and asteroids and all.. i need to ask you.. the asteroids in your game are they sprites or 3d models... plus what kind of models are you using .x model .fbx models or .3ds models...

  • @TheJunaidStuff Those are 3d models created by me.

At first i've downloaded a 3d model of astroids, but since they are very easy to make, i've decided to do them by my self. after that i've learn to do more stuff with 3d and i also made one of the fighters in the game.

  • @comsoft : dude can you do me a favor, email your asteroids and meteoroids to me... need them urgently... junaid@moon.pk

  • @TheJunaidStuff No problem dude...

It was very long ago, i need to look for them on the HD...

I hope to do it tommorow!

  • @comsoft : a suggestion for this game.. try moving the background as well as the planes moves... and please email the meteors.. need them urgently .. thanks

  • @comsoft I was wondering, what software are you using to create the 3d models? I've been looking into game designing, because it's what i want to do as a career :3

  • Thats sick it looks like it could be on the Xbox Live market for arcade games :D

  • @SkateKrewTV thanks

  • Gag! EARRAPE

  • You should try out the Unity Engine, its much easier to use and more powerful than XNA and you can use C# or Javascript and is free to use.

  • Great man!

  • wait wait. this is your FIRST game? nice job!

  • galiga?

  • 1st off its not that hard to make shit in XNA. There are like 50+ tutorials out there for it. If this guy is a programming and hes picking up XNA as a hobby, it should have only taken him about a day to learn the basics of XNA, (which it looks like it did).

2nd off, I can see how some people would think he copied code. They just dont realized how easy XNA really is.

  • @darkcommanderq XNA is easy if you have programming experience, but if you do not it will be hard. Also XNA is easy if you have a physics background and trig of course. So yes XNA is much easier because it is OOP.

  • @monsterhunter445 I can agree with that, although if one is interested in it's really not that hard to pick up computer programming after playing with it enough. I think the harder part is ithe math. If you don't know trigonometry or linear alebra, or even basic algebra, things are going to be VERY hard! Don't know the math, spend hours on goolge trying to figure out certain things...

  • Hey whats up man.. I was just wondering where you learned from? I am just starting out, and am having a hard time finding learning tools :/ any suggestions? :)

  • @regaz93 hi..

You can learn from tutorials as some guys suggested and/or you can buy some books from amazon as i did. i bought allot of books, some are xna 3.0 game programming, and MICROSOFT XNA, i bet you can find tons of new games since those are a year old.

  • @comsoft What books would you recommend? There's a lot of them, I want to get beginner books I have never used XMA before. I really want to learn it and eventually make 3D games.

  • It's obvious you call it invaders....it's a 3 dimensional version on space invaders (albeit from a different perspective)......lol. But seriously, good job.

  • dang das mad beasty lookin game!

  • im sure you didn't make EVERYTHING in here from scratch with only learning xna 5 days before, your a douche

  • @littleallred008

everything from scratch. every line of code...

To think you can't believe i did that, it's the best compliment i can get, thanks.

  • @comsoft you are seriously a freaking douche, and its sad that some people believe you.

  • @littleallred008 It's one thing you don't have the knowledge or talent to make your own game (as simple as it may by), but to go further and call me lier for succeeding where you failed, as just pathetic.

  • @comsoft hah you don't know if i have the talent or not you fucking piece of shit

  • @littleallred008 Your reply says it all ... LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @comsoft damn that dude is a piece of shit lol

  • @comsoft Hey Comsoft, ignore that little troll idiot. He obviously has no idea what he is on about.

This can be done in hours let alone days! (not to downplay your efforts though :) Cool stuff.

  • @littleallred008 I know what you are hint below

    jealous b...i...t...c...h...

  • @littleallred008 if you can make a game in wow laungue you can make them in all just because its his first xna game dosnt mean its his first EVER game, i wouldnt believe him if he said it was his first game ever and he made it after 5 days of learing how to code , but he`d be a usless programmer if he could only programmen in 1 laungue this just shows he`s flexable and quick to learn

  • And to think, my first XNA game said "Hello World"...

  • Your game is awesome but you need to know that in the space there is no sound:D

  • @yoix4 Hahaha, this was funny! XD

  • @yoix4

But everything else in the game is real =)

  • @jamiekitsonuk ACTUALLY no...... the dead spaceships can`t fall down beacause in the space there is NO "down" or "up".

There is no gravity it means - where can it fall?

  • i would make the view a bit higher up, just saying.

  • do a barrel roll!

  • did you use c++ in xna ? because i dont want to start learning c# when i can use c++

  • @Juwontiwo2 Nope, XNA only runs on C# (and some sites have tutorials for setting up with Visual Basic as well). I love C# though. I think it's about time some other languages came out for programming games besides C++.

  • @sedativechunk Not true actually. XNA only gets official support with C#, but you can technically make an XNA game with any language supported by the .NET Framework (Like VB.NET, C++, etc.), but with minimal loss in functionality.

  • @Danellos Yea you are deifnitely right! You can use XNA in any Visual Studio language, persoanlly I am sticking to C# though. I don't even know if you can publish games written in other languages for the Xbox which is why I said stick to the original... plus most of the tutorials and documentation revolve around the C# language. But yea it is possible to use it with the other Visual Studio languages, I even recently seen some stuff on setting it up with F#!

  • @sedativechunk yeah indeed :) For example, although I like VB (don't laugh at me), when it comes to XNA I am a C#'er all the way. C# (and C++) is anyways a much nicer language to code games in than the others. I'd have also done some stuff in C++ as well, but as you said, C# is the only supported language (probably because supporting all the languages would cost a hefty sum for MS... one never knows).

  • @Danellos Actually no... They didn't have support for C++ because they wanted to Windows to be the only OS that XNA supports... (Everybody can build a C++ cross compiler but C# has Windows dependancies..) :D

  • @Nickolakis21aek Erm... no that's incorrect. C++ can also compile MSIL, its just not as well-supported as the other .NET languages. In fact, with C++ you can mix managed with unmanaged code quite easily. It is possible to make an XNA game with any language supported by the .NET framework (C++ included), but MS only supports C# for XNA and use of a non-C# lang will cause some loss of functionality and loss of Microsoft's support.

  • @Nickolakis21aek Oh, and a C++ program designed with .NET dependencies (like XNA) will not compile on any other system, so that makes it unportable. ofc there is Mono, but Mono has no support for XNA (yet).

  • @Danellos Don't forget that C++ is more professional than C# and Microsoft wanted XNA to be "the game engine for the masses".

  • @Nickolakis21aek true :P and its bloody good i must add. i just wish it was cross-platform. My Ubuntu would love me :)

  • @Danellos Ubuntu isn't a gaming OS.. But even if it was don't forget Microsoft's ultimate arrogance... :P

  • @Nickolakis21aek It is fast enough to be one you know, and it was proven with Unigine's (sorry if mispelled) gaming engine that it is faster than Mac OS and can keep up with Windows. The only problem is that the market there is just too small still

  • Wow, this will surely motivate me to learn XNA faster. Here's my first game. :'(

    watch?v=Jy0PAdlP-no

  • And as a first? This is quite impressive!

  • can u tell me how did u made the FPS limit? but in C# or JS

  • cant let you do that, Player class constructor

  • My regards.... i'm currenctly thinking to start working a bit on XNA

  • Holy crap, for you first game this amazing keep it up man surely you make something even better than this in no time.

  • @DalmarG Thank you.

  • That's pretty cool man. I wish I could make games.

  • How much knowledge of C# did you have prior to this game?

  • @Kijiriko None!

  • @comsoft

And you made this fromk scratch!?

    Got any tips?

  • @Kijiriko Yea, from scratch.

I had former knowledge with C++, Assembly and other languages.

Tip: There are some amazing books on ebay, buy some and good luck.

  • @comsoft

    Oh. Thank you!

  • @comsoft can you recommend any books please...Im gonna bunch of books on xna just need some help chosing the right ones. I really need books that mainly focus on 3d not 2d. This is because i got an assignment to do at University and i got to do a game =s

  • Wow man great job for your first. I am currently making a 2d racer game as my first game. After this, ill go to 3d gaming. I already have an idea in 3d and i know it can get complicated at some points. GD JOB !!

  • Looks promising. I would personally adjust the view angle up a bit more (looking down on your ship and the oncoming ships a bit) and also look into porting this to Windows Phone 7. :)

  • is hard a create one game?

  • For a first xna game this is amazing.

  • the backgrownd does not moves

  • @KiLlErWeRoT The background actually moves, but since the image is not wide enough it's hard to see it.

  • it's good, did you make the models , materials and scripts yourself? and where'd you get the sounds?

  • Great job dude, i bet u have better things right now

  • i would call it - eggshaped planets ^^ ... just kiddin, it looks good for your first steps. :)

  • hey good job man this is really impressive.

  • hey good job man this is really impressive.

  • @darknessprince6

thank you very much. i'm just about to return and continue my work on the game.

All the great feedback gave me the push to continue my work.

    Thank you all.

  • This is really cool for a first.

  • Did you create those models also? If so, which program do you use?

  • first game ? then you realy stole some code lol

  • @GamersPreview "Stole some code"? why would i?

Anyway, i'll take that as a compliment.

  • @GamersPreview

He DID say that it's his first XNA game ,

but he didn't say that it's his first game ever xD

once you learn game development in any good engine, applying in another engine won't be so hard once you know the new engine's basics =]

  • nice man

  • @yamasnik thanks

  • Sweet dude! why did you decide to start out with 3d?

me and my buddy are currently working on a 2d xna game, its also our first. we decided to go simple 2d arcade game, than some sort of short story line 2d platform, than we might think about advancing to 3d... check out our channel and let me know what you think!!!

  • @MinkisProductions Sorry for the late response.

I don't have much time this days...

I decided for going on 3d becose on the commodores days i was doing 2d, so i have some expirience.

I'll take a look at your work and share my thoughts about it.

    Have a good luck...

  • Great start for sure! I'm just starting with XNA myself and that's a world away from where I am.

  • U are a great coder and animator. I'm learning XNA.. It's hard! GREAT JOB DUDE!

  • my first was coloseum hammerball second coloseum and 3rd will be i made a game with zombies in it

  • Your first game, and trying to emulate the old space warfare classics... I think you hit the bullseye, man! Nice job! Looks better than any old game, but still has the look and feel of the classics. Most people's first games don't even work, so pat yourself on the back!

  • thank you very much.

It's a shame i did not touch it for the last months, since i have alot of things to deal with.

but i'll continue work on it, when i'll have the time.

  • Awesome!! I was trying to make a game too but it was total failure!! I love your game!

  • how long did this take?

  • where di you gtthe modes for the other ships?

  • DOABARRELROLL :V

  • I was thinking the same.

    thank you for your comment.

  • @smasher2256

I wanted to say that T_T

  • dude this looks awesome for your first xna game!im still struggling to use xna game studio!!!

  • Thank you

  • hey im thinking about getting XNA .... is it easy to pick up? what language is it based of?

    thx so much =]

  • Its free for making windows games but $100 for making Xbox 360 games. And it's based off C#

  • xna is a game development kit that uses C# as it's language. to use it you should know the concepts of programming, c#, and some basic game dev techniques. it's actually not too hard to pick up but this is a very well done game.

  • The enemy model came from DBPro.

  • to much in there i cant even see what ur trying to not hit

  • :O :O :O: O: is it added

  • just noticed an incorrect logic: since u are in space, there is no gravity (im talking about the spaceships going down after getting hit), apart from that, was really nice work done there :D

  • Maybe its a VERY VERY HUGE planet or something with a big mass just beneath the camera? ;)

  • thats why the asteroid rocks seem to be staying in mid air lol, maybe theres a giant magnet !

  • It's NOT suppose to be as in real life, just like all old games in the days of the commodore...

All ment to be fun not duplication of life.

Even though, since your not the first to remark it, i'll change it to big explosion with debries.. but that can wait after i'll finish other things.

    thank you for your help.

  • do you know if autodesk maya works with this software?

  • if it can export to .x format then yes if not then there might be a program to convert it to .x

  • yes, you can use it to convert it to x or FBX. And an FBX export tool is available for both as a plugin and can be downloaded from the Autodesk website.

  • lol, having fun their scotty.

  • I've added a "new" version of the game, th video was taken a bit less then a year but never had posted.

I'll post any progress with the game when i'll have.

  • WOW chaos lol good game especially for 5 days tok me 4 days just to get my 3d C++ dude to walk lol

  • Now i've check and it's actually one year passed since i stoped doing XNA.. :-(

Now i have the learn all over again...

  • Thank you everyone for your great responses and sory not to respond them.

i stoped working on xna short while after posting this movie, something like 8 months ago. now i'm back to buisness and hope to finish the game and start a new one.

  • an excellent first attempt

  • What Program did you make the models with?

  • you use xna game designer

  • what? you can't make 3d models in xna

  • No you can't make models but you can import them, he either got the models from a website or made them using some modeling tool

  • NO, i've did everything by my self.

I really hope to find talented ppl to work with.

  • nice work

  • Where did you learn to program that game? A book or a really good website? Please respond I want to be able to make a game that fast!.

  • XNA Game Studio, an add-on (you could say, i personally consider it a separate language) to Microsoft Visual Studio 08 (PAID) or Microsoft Visual C# Express Edition 08 (FREE). With XNA, a week or two of dedication (like 3-6 hours a day, I'm in the middle of learning it, I plan to do 2d games mainly, but 3d games are just as simple) and you can have a game like this up and running in a few days.

  • What is the add on called? I will use that!

  • I know about XNA and stuff, but is there a website or something that you are learning from? I preordered a book for it, but a head start would be nice...

  • wow how do you get the models on there what did you use? and how is the model in the game. All i know how to do is get a 2d picture to sit there and do nothing and i want to know.

  • Looks like starfox, so it has to be good!

  • omfg if thats your first xna game ill download it now lol! i thought it was gunna be shitty but thats amazing!

  • What he meant by "First game" is first COMPLETE game.

  • loos like a cross of starfox and space invadres. great work.

  • indeed. those two games cross my mind while working on the game....

  • not too bad! you could probably get hired by Soulfire Soft! its a non profit XNA game community for independent developers.

  • lol you jealous? too bad your first game didn't look this good, huh?

but your current fps looks like its working pretty good congrats on that. keep it up -_^

  • Excellent for a first game. Heck, I'd be proud of that for even a third or fourth game.

  • thats just AWESOME!! it can become a very good arcade game!!

  • CAN YOU USE A 3DS MAX BIPED IN XNA

  • That what I though lol...

I can make character and level design.

I was looking forward to this kind of a program.

  • this is kool. i am making a game right now hope it will be dun by 2morrow..

  • does xna uses C# or c++

  • xna uses C#.

  • Thats a cool game how do you make one?

  • hey guys i've mastered visual basic and understand c#, how much c# experience do i need before i start making games in XNA? plz reply i cant wait to make games like that!

  • For first Try great RADABADABUMMMMM!!!

  • Great Work! Impressed!

  • You are going to hate me but somehow I can't stop thinking about:

A vacuum doesn't conduct sound oO ... and your game is pretty loud :P ...

    It looks nice though :).

  • This is amazing. Right now Im thinking about making my first game, thought maybe xna, and to know that you made THAT within 5 days of getting the software is incredible (to me at least).

  • nice !! good job !

  • the movie was recorded without the background music, somehow.

i'll tray to figure it out, on my next video.
