"When leaders profit from deep divisions; when the tears of friends remain unsung In times like these, it's good to remember, these times will go, in times to come"
Nothing is over until it is finished; all is in process for the wheel keeps a' spinning
Arlo is awesome. A legendary raconteur, his stories are both funny and poignant. Finally got to see him in the summer of 2005 along with Nanci Griffith in Newport Rhode Island. Perfect summer night.
You know, the first album I ever had was "Alice's Restaurant," a gift from an uncle when I was around 13 years old. He taught me how to play the theme on guitar...
Anyway, This is a lovely song, and I totally agree with the political parallel you drew.
"I know the storm will soon be over" Here's hoping ...
I was lowered to the point of nearly weeping over this song.... so true...

This is one of Arlo's most remarkable songs. I am sure that over time it will be one of THE songs which will last. Wonderful presentation of it.

@forty911, me too. I had the good fortune to meet and speak to Arlo on several occasions, he is the most awesome person any one could ever know.

Arlo Guthrie is one great folk musician and a poet.
To see him live on stage is always something special
