  • "I'm happy just because." conor reminds me of a cute little baby

  • Three cheers for ignorance on Youtube!

Anyways, going to see him live on Monday and I honestly cannot wait. I have been waiting for this all my life.

  • "M. Ward for President!"

  • I hope when people say its a different song they just mean an earlier version....

  • @CandusAnn did you just say Bush got us out of debt? serisouly? He started two wars, and lowered taxes for the richto next to nothing! I dont understand your logic. Do you know what logic is? Cause your comment is devoid of it.

  • @larrysmoreland he said "IN to debt"

  • did you honestly think the song was called "sing, sing, sing?" like..... REALLY?!

  • @BrightEyes10003 Did you honestly read the description box, BrightEyes10003? Tsk, tsk

  • @BrightEyes10003 This song was called "Sing, Sing, Sing" before it was called "At the Bottom of Everything."

  • Reagan was the worst. Clinton deregulated the banks. W ignored it. Obama isn't helping.

  • @CandusAnn

I usually don't pick fights on youtube (because that's trolling) but i have to address this ignorance. You know our nation has been in debt for lets see.... forever. The only time it wasn't is when Andrew Jackson was president. Sooooooooo yeah...

  • "hence the subtle differences in the song" I read that as M.Ward cracked out that little solo lmao

  • isnt the song called at the bottom of everything?

  • @villasixx It is. This was during the Lifted era, earlier than Wide It's Morning, so Sing, Sing, Sing was probably an early song title.

  • @twigj93 seems like someone thought he said sing sing sing instead of 666

  • @villasixx read the description.

  • @CandusAnn Reagan got us out of Carter's deficit, Clinton just takes credit for it.

  • fuck he's prettier than Cat Power LOL

  • pause it at 00:38

    Bassist is crackin up lol

  • Does he always wear Eyeliner?

  • @Smashlyynn no,that was a short phase. todd baechle does though

    ...he.

  • 1, 2, 3, 4, SIX SIX SIX!

  • Whether you agree with Conor's statements in this or not, at least he has the balls to stand up for what he believes in and use his celebrity to try and evoke change. This is a kickass song (which is obviously different from At the Bottom) and Conor is kickass, the end. Oh, and M. WARD FOR PRESIDENT.

  • he seems pretty out of it.

    i really like his intro

  • asdfghjkl; <3

  • @smartarted Thats what it was actually called before the record was recorded.

  • "1,2,666" has to be the greatest count in to a song ever.

  • @CaliforniaJoker1 ahahah completely agree, I was just about to post a comment mentioning it when I saw yours (:

  • KISS YOUR HAND 10 TIMES

    SAY YOUR CRUSH 15 TIMES

  • everybody knows how violent this song is right? its not just me...he dedicated it to a president....lol

  • yeah this is at the bottom of everything..

  • Macey Taylor?

  • the greatest song writer of his generation. finally a talented musician who isnt a sell out.

  • the song is called At The Bottom Of Everything

  • I didn't even realize that was M. Ward until I saw the guy burning through his guitar with that fingerpicking. I thought to myself, "Well, there's only one guy that can play guitar like that."

  • where the fuck did sing sing sing come from?

    at the bottom of everything...?

  • man he looks fucked up!

  • this is at the bottom of everything:'D?

  • basist own the scene !!

  • At 3:32 you can hear: "I love you Conor!"

  • Oh I apologize. haha

  • Isn't this at the bottom of everything?xD

  • @Qbot2113 Sing Sing Sing is a bit different from At The Bottom, and it (I believe) was the name before it was changed.

  • M. Ward Ruined Conor.

  • this is the freaking best song ever. M Ward for President!

  • wait, that's not "sing, sing, sing". It's "At The Bottom Of Everything"

  • @coyotl18 it was originally called "Sing, Sing, Sing" the lyrics are a little different if you listen. it was released this way before the album on the tour.

  • @lleth1937 oh..... so when did he change it to "at the bottom of everything"?

  • m. ward!!!!!!!

  • Nobody understand why I love Bright Eyes, and I said if you loved it you would understand why!! They are fantastic!

  • heheh i love the pirate talk show host in the beginning. ARRRRR next guest's..

  • M. Ward for President!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How come I've neglected Bright Eyes for so long?? This is brilliant!

  • I did the same thing at first. I heard the twangy guitars and didn't even give them a chance.

    Now I'm like... damn.

  • Well some sure thinks he's an Anarchist.

  • M. Ward for President!

  • amazing post!

  • lmfao,

    1, 2, 6666

  • I thought this was called 'At the bottom of everything'?

  • @ColourRiot

it is called that but this is probably from before that album was released so they ended up changing the name

  • This song is for the goverrner of California and the President of the united States. Two men I admire a lot for their biceps and creepy facius adgendas" haha I love you Connor

  • @muahahaha101 fascist not facius

  • Quality spelling.

  • Yes I spelled a word incorrectly, I am only human...

  • As human as your copy editor =D

  • M. Ward for President!

  • God damn Conor Oberst is the fucking man. The lyrics of his songs are amazing, I grew up on this shit from 13 to now (23). He has been making amazing music since he was 13 (check out his Water album or Here's to Special Treatment, especially the songs Space Invaders and Lava Monster I think they have them on YouTube) yet when he kinda sounds like he is 7, his lyrics are still great. Some compare him to Dylan, I'd say they are not far off.

  • Hes 29 not 23, slugger.

  • @CashHarrison

Never said he was "slugger" I said I was. L2Read

  • LOVE

  • This is At The Bottom of Everything...

  • yo is that m ward there? so awesome these guys

  • Yeah, that's definitely M. Ward, this was during his baseball cap phase and Conor's guyliner phase.

  • i went to see Monsters Of Folk nov 2nd in Toronto's Massey Hall, and although i never much listened to Jim James or M. Ward, it was the most amazing time i have ever had, and even if Conor is still playing after Bright Eyes finishes, i'll still probably cry when Bright Eyes call it quits.

  • @bringmetheKYLE Ohh, man i saw them on nov 19. i cried so bad the entire concert through, they are amazing artists, and it really doesn't make them justice here on youtube!

they really gives their all, every single performance!! :'D

  • @LoewSusan, i swear i would have cried if they played more bright eyes song, i mean i do respect them all. jim james and m ward are very talented musicians but i live for bright eyes, man.

  • M Ward to the left playing guitar I believe???

  • m. ward for president!

  • "1...2...666..."

    haha Oh man, love Conor

  • dylan , springsteen , cash , petty in one !

  • so fucking good

  • If i'm correct Monsters of Folk performed this a few days ago on tour. It's hard to believe he's the same man, how he has changed. i personally like him better now, though. he seems happier. that makes me happy.

  • Yup! I was lucky enough to see it. It was amazing. I was like two seconds away from crying and I couldn't stop freaking out. If you have the chance to see a Monsters of Folk concert, I HIGHLY recomend it. The one I went to was one of the best concert I've ever been to!

  • Yes, i actually went to see them on the 30th as well and they did play this :) and i completely agree. the four of them are just brilliant.

  • ha I went on the 30th too at Chicago. It was amazing. I wanted to record it but they took away my camera. Damn them, but it was still so fun.

  • yeah i was considering bringing a camera but i heard the staff were basically nazis with the cameras and i didn't want mine taken away. the show was incredible though, and i think it's even more beautiful that i have no proof of the show, just my memories.

"why are you so good?" haha i respect that man 100%.

  • Exactly! I got mine taken away even before the concert started. Some fat chick was watching my every move until I got so creeped out that I just put it away with my coat. Three fucking dollars. Ridiculous. But besides that, the show was awesome! I agree with that guy. M. Ward playing the guitar WAS pretty awesome. And I loved at the end when Conor was stepping all over the drums. They're all geniuses.

  • i know! i loved how it was so apparent that conor was just getting drunker as the show went on. he's a riot.

  • haha I know. I love Conor. I was so psyched when they played At the Bottom of Everything. Also the soul singer in a session band. I loved how they were wearing business suits, or that's what it looked like at least. I was pretty high up in the balcony, haha.

  • i was ECSTATIC when they played we are nowhere. bermuda highway sounded wonderful too. and m.ward's solo was magnificent. fuck, just everything about that night was great. somehow i ended up with front row tickets, and they were indeed wearing business suits. conor, being the rebel he is, took his jacket off midway though.

  • Yeah me too! I was was...holy fuck...it's a Bright Eyes song! And yeah this concert has made me start liking music by M.Ward and Jim James. Bermuda Highway was actually my favorite song that Jim James did. I tried to memorize the lyrics during the concert so I could look it up later, haha. I loved the thing he did with his guitar. Did he knock on it or something?

  • i did the same exact thing. i fell in love with bermuda highway the instant i heard it but then couldn't remember it whatsoever when i got home. i had a hell of a time finding it but eventually found the setlist and looked it up. btw, i did not know jim james had such a sense of humor! "chicago you really know how to treat a lady" hahah

and i don't remember a certain instance of jim james knocking on it, but i remember conor knocking on his guitar right before temazcal.

  • they played this on the 7th in nyc. it was an encore.

  • @VORYAN1 they only played the 6th and the 8th in nyc haha which was it (united palace or beacon)? i was at both and they were both fucking amazing. i seriously could not contain myself when the started playing hit the switch though.....so awesome and unexpected

  • you sure are! i was there in toronto

  • Conor looks pretty strung out in this video.

  • pretty sure this song is at the bottom of everything

  • is that a tattoo or a necklace he always wears it??

  • I was like

    "is that m ward?"

    And Conor replies

    "M.ward for president!"

  • thank you!!

wow, im the biggest conor fan out there, however im a conservative.

  • m ward

  • Was "Sing, Sing, Sing" the original title for "At the Bottom of Everything"?

  • I think it's because this was before the album containing the song was released, so there wasn't a real title for the song... I think ... :)

  • I love that thing he does with his tongue when he says 'no one' at the end.

  • M. WARD FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

  • ... for their biceps, and for their creepy, fascist agendas..

    HAHA, awesome.

More people need to speak their mind on TV like this- thank god the Bush years are finally over..

This song is amazing too. Love it, love it, love it

  • @chad4214 Now you are lucky to witness Obama's fascist agenda. And so it goes.

  • Comment removed

  • @chad4214 Well considering our foreign policy is virtually the same, and big government control has only increased I would say that he could say the exact same thing today.

  • @chad4214 And are you better off today than when your savior Obama was elected? If you don't work for your money then I guess you like what you see. Big Government = oppression (no matter if what side your on)

  • @chad4214 bush was one of the best things that happend to this country...what has obamam done lets see.......ugh absolutly nothing besides run us into debt and make promises he can never keep

  • @willyumtale Yes, because there was no debt before Obama.... and nothing bad ever happened during the period Bush was president.... right?

  • @SaladTaste You speak the truth good sir.

  • @basketcase5295 Why thank you for your kind words my friend!

  • @willyumtale - "bush was one of the best things that happend to this country"... Even if you are a fan of Bush this is some great hyperbole. Google it to find out what that word means. Because of you Willy the terrorists win.

  • @JustMeRecordz your a fucking tard

  • <3 lol i love you

  • I admire your courage

  • That's fair enough, at least you tried. I think you won't ever 'get' Bright eyes then. (This isn't a hate comment it's just an opinion because that's their sound and a main part of their appeal)

  • love it

  • Craig killborn is such a piece of shit

  • M Ward for president! (sick little solo)

  • this is at the bottom of everything not sing sing sing

  • At the bottom of everything is what the song on the album is called, because it includes the speaking part first. Just this song part is called Sing Sing Sing, and it's different then what's on the album. I'm pretty sure it was released like this on an EP.

  • you get Kudos from me...

I have been telling people that forever..

  • seriously, Conor Oberst is like a real life donnie darko and its the coolest thing ever...actaully maybe donnie darko is a fake like conor oberst...

  • if they make a movie about connor...Jake Gyllenhal will play him. And the rest of the band will be Daniel Day Lewis (lol he drinks your milkshake) and the other guy will be John Travolta...hahaha

  • tobey maguirre would be more fittin

  • Nope he had it on the head with Gyllenhal.

  • I always thought Lukas Haas or Lou Taylor Pucci should play him.

  • isent the song " At the bottom of everything" ?

  • well it would seem this is an earlier version, now wouldn't it?

  • I LOVE how they sound exactly the same LIVE and in the CD's! GREAT STUFF!

  • 1,2, 666

    hahahahaa

  • Conor Oberst is my favorite

  • The theme of the song and conclusion leads me to believe that the song is about Mindfulness (aka Engaged Buddhism) (3:01 - 3:20)

"ohh my morning is coming back, **the whole world is waking up...**

    ...

"I'm happy just because I found out **I am really no-one**

  • thats clearly 666

  • i seriously love mike mogis.

  • M. WARD FOR PRESIDENT!

  • 1... 2... 666

    hahaha

  • sounds like a fucking pirate at 0:11

  • LOL!

  • he always looks stoned kids..

  • is it just me or does he look kinda stoned?

  • The name of the song is "At The Bottom Of Everything"

  • ARGGGHHH NEXT GUEST!

  • its called at the bottom of everything.. not sing sing sing, u may wanna change that sum how.

  • 1, 2, 666
