@CandusAnn did you just say Bush got us out of debt? serisouly? He started two wars, and lowered taxes for the richto next to nothing! I dont understand your logic. Do you know what logic is? Cause your comment is devoid of it.
I usually don't pick fights on youtube (because that's trolling) but i have to address this ignorance. You know our nation has been in debt for lets see.... forever. The only time it wasn't is when Andrew Jackson was president. Sooooooooo yeah...
Whether you agree with Conor's statements in this or not, at least he has the balls to stand up for what he believes in and use his celebrity to try and evoke change. This is a kickass song (which is obviously different from At the Bottom) and Conor is kickass, the end. Oh, and M. WARD FOR PRESIDENT.
I didn't even realize that was M. Ward until I saw the guy burning through his guitar with that fingerpicking. I thought to myself, "Well, there's only one guy that can play guitar like that."
@bitcheznhos Obama is socialist.. Fascists are corporatist (like Bush passing TARP to bail out AIG) versus Health care reform (To try to give sick people the ability to get health care once their sick)
@coyotl18 it was originally called "Sing, Sing, Sing" the lyrics are a little different if you listen. it was released this way before the album on the tour.
This song is for the goverrner of California and the President of the united States. Two men I admire a lot for their biceps and creepy facius adgendas" haha I love you Connor
God damn Conor Oberst is the fucking man. The lyrics of his songs are amazing, I grew up on this shit from 13 to now (23). He has been making amazing music since he was 13 (check out his Water album or Here's to Special Treatment, especially the songs Space Invaders and Lava Monster I think they have them on YouTube) yet when he kinda sounds like he is 7, his lyrics are still great. Some compare him to Dylan, I'd say they are not far off.
i went to see Monsters Of Folk nov 2nd in Toronto's Massey Hall, and although i never much listened to Jim James or M. Ward, it was the most amazing time i have ever had, and even if Conor is still playing after Bright Eyes finishes, i'll still probably cry when Bright Eyes call it quits.
@bringmetheKYLE Ohh, man i saw them on nov 19. i cried so bad the entire concert through, they are amazing artists, and it really doesn't make them justice here on youtube!
they really gives their all, every single performance!! :'D
@LoewSusan, i swear i would have cried if they played more bright eyes song, i mean i do respect them all. jim james and m ward are very talented musicians but i live for bright eyes, man.
If i'm correct Monsters of Folk performed this a few days ago on tour. It's hard to believe he's the same man, how he has changed. i personally like him better now, though. he seems happier. that makes me happy.
Yup! I was lucky enough to see it. It was amazing. I was like two seconds away from crying and I couldn't stop freaking out. If you have the chance to see a Monsters of Folk concert, I HIGHLY recomend it. The one I went to was one of the best concert I've ever been to!
yeah i was considering bringing a camera but i heard the staff were basically nazis with the cameras and i didn't want mine taken away. the show was incredible though, and i think it's even more beautiful that i have no proof of the show, just my memories.
"why are you so good?" haha i respect that man 100%.
Exactly! I got mine taken away even before the concert started. Some fat chick was watching my every move until I got so creeped out that I just put it away with my coat. Three fucking dollars. Ridiculous. But besides that, the show was awesome! I agree with that guy. M. Ward playing the guitar WAS pretty awesome. And I loved at the end when Conor was stepping all over the drums. They're all geniuses.
haha I know. I love Conor. I was so psyched when they played At the Bottom of Everything. Also the soul singer in a session band. I loved how they were wearing business suits, or that's what it looked like at least. I was pretty high up in the balcony, haha.
i was ECSTATIC when they played we are nowhere. bermuda highway sounded wonderful too. and m.ward's solo was magnificent. fuck, just everything about that night was great. somehow i ended up with front row tickets, and they were indeed wearing business suits. conor, being the rebel he is, took his jacket off midway though.
Yeah me too! I was was...holy fuck...it's a Bright Eyes song! And yeah this concert has made me start liking music by M.Ward and Jim James. Bermuda Highway was actually my favorite song that Jim James did. I tried to memorize the lyrics during the concert so I could look it up later, haha. I loved the thing he did with his guitar. Did he knock on it or something?
i did the same exact thing. i fell in love with bermuda highway the instant i heard it but then couldn't remember it whatsoever when i got home. i had a hell of a time finding it but eventually found the setlist and looked it up. btw, i did not know jim james had such a sense of humor! "chicago you really know how to treat a lady" hahah
and i don't remember a certain instance of jim james knocking on it, but i remember conor knocking on his guitar right before temazcal.
@VORYAN1 they only played the 6th and the 8th in nyc haha which was it (united palace or beacon)? i was at both and they were both fucking amazing. i seriously could not contain myself when the started playing hit the switch though.....so awesome and unexpected
@chad4214 Well considering our foreign policy is virtually the same, and big government control has only increased I would say that he could say the exact same thing today.
@chad4214 And are you better off today than when your savior Obama was elected? If you don't work for your money then I guess you like what you see. Big Government = oppression (no matter if what side your on)
@chad4214 bush was one of the best things that happend to this country...what has obamam done lets see.......ugh absolutly nothing besides run us into debt and make promises he can never keep
@willyumtale - "bush was one of the best things that happend to this country"... Even if you are a fan of Bush this is some great hyperbole. Google it to find out what that word means. Because of you Willy the terrorists win.
