  • wtf "wtf"?

  • I hate partisan politics. I hate having to decide which party is LESS opposed to my political ideology. A quick-fix is to dispense with only 2 major parties. I always vote for one of several "3rd parties" and then preference one or the other. Same goes for the senate, and I tend to oppose voting a side into a majority.

  • How stupid of people to mark dislike when suggestions are made that Turnbull is acting like Senator McCarthey here. I am not a fan of the Liberal Party's politics but i am a fan of reasoned, sensible debate. Whih is why I respect Joe Hockey

  • haha, joe hockey is a good politician is all i can say.

  • True. I love what Gillard said about him after he was given the position of leader of opposition business in the house over Abbott; "the leader of the opposition prefers a poodle to a doberman."

  • How original. The Liberal Party has now gone straight back to the days of "reds under the beds." Julie Bishop said on insiders that Kevin Rudd was saounding like "a member of the Chinese Communist Party."

P.S. Christopher Pyne looks and talks like he still breast feeds

  • constructive comment. You wouldn't happen to be a card carrying labor cronie?

  • The hell you did...

  • Where are you studying at, the University of Pyongyang? You are making statements about America. Therefore, I'm replying with American examples.

  • Yes, of course...couldn't possibly be that the Republicans genuinely have a moral objection to abortion and the homosexual agenda...no, they're simply being influenced by a shadowy international group of Christian fascists hellbent on invading Arab nations and converting them to Christianity.

Of course, you have the problem of communist governments, as well as Muslim and Hindu governments also opposing abortion and homosexuality...they must be under The Family's influence too!!! lol

  • No one's denying that Christians attempt to influence policy. Every group with a core set of beliefs tries to influence policy. However, it's simply intellectually dishonest to take that and make it appear that Bush "used religion to stay in power" or that invasion of Iraq was somehow done for Christianity.

  • So you're saying the 9/11 attacks happened because Bush "used neo-liberalism" to invade Iraq? LOL!!!

9/11 happened a full 18 months BEFORE the invasion of Iraq. You are seriously THE most ignorant person I have EVER debated on Youtube...and that's saying something because I've seen a lot of ignorant people.

  • The American constitution does not state "all men are created equal." That phrase does not appear anywhere in the Constitution. Please try to learn some basic facts about America before trying to tell Americans what's wrong with our country.

  • If the European media is telling you that the US has been trying to spread Christianity in Iraq, then I think I'll not watch them, as they're more unreliable than even al-Jazeera (which fully believed Saddam's version of the invasion up until Baghdad fell).

  • LOL

You really need to stop reading communist websites. The US never tried to spread Christianity in Iraq. The US allowed the Iraqi constitution to establish Islam as the state religion. You've been misinformed.

  • First of all, no, I'd never heard of "The Family" before you sent me that link. Second, they're not worldwide. They do charity overseas, but the group is completely based in the US. Third, it doesn't matter what religious groups supported Bush. Several Christian groups opposed him and some Muslim groups supported him. Religion was never used to justify any of his policies.

  • Also, claiming the Iraq war was a "direct attack" on Islam is dishonest. The Iraqi constitution, written with US guidance, establishes Islam as the state religion. The fact that Iraq is a Muslim country was irrelevant to why we invaded. It had nothing to do with oil or some mythical attempt to convert anyone to Christianity. It was all about Saddam's support of terrorism in the Middle East and his unwillingness to live up to the cease-fire he signed as a result of aggression against Kuwait.

  • 1. The 9/11 attacks had nothing to do with economic resources.

    2. Who exactly is starving because they can't get Iraqi oil? The only people I know of with an oil shortage are those who got cut off by Russia because of a petty political dispute with Ukraine.

    3. Please provide ANY evidence that the US or any other Western nation has stolen a single drop of oil from Iraq.

  • Neither the US or Aussie government used religion to stay in power. It simply didn't happen...and please define "neoliberal fundamentalism"...

  • That's laughably false. Neither the Bush administration nor the Howard government used religion to justify their actions. Iraq wasn't invaded in the name of Christ (it wasn't invaded for oil either). Neither Bush nor Howard used Christianity to justify their economic decisions. The media would have raked them over the coals if they had. It's funny how you just can't seem to accept the fact that capitalism (or whatever name you choose to give it) has NOTHING to do with al-Qaeda's war on us.

  • That's a rather ignorant statement. Al-Qaeda is entirely religious in nature. Many of its members, including its founder, fought against the Soviet Union. It has nothing to do with anti-capitalism.

  • You can't have it both ways; insisting that the free market is responsible and simultaneously conceding "the US government intervenes in the US economy" (meaning it's not a free market).

  • Where did I claim that America is "not based upon the principals of a free market"? You claimed that free market ideals caused the crisis and I stated that their economic system is far removed from a free market, which I stand by. We can agree that it has its origins in the free market system but the idea that it is, in its current form, a free market is absurd. How can you blame free market ideals for this crisis when even you acknowledge that the US government intervenes in its own market?

  • Do you even know the basic definition of a free market economy? What the USA has is not even close. Perhaps you should read "Economics in One Lesson" by Hazlitt and then spend a couple of years reading up on the innumerable ways in which the US government intervenes in the US economy so that, in future, you won't come across as disturbingly ignornant.

  • Turnbull sucks. Costello will lead us to a landslide victory in 2010.

  • As much as i hate Turnbull, he speaks a few truths here. Although if he were PM i have a feeling he would be a massive control freak too. If the government got rid of Rudd and Swan and made Gillard PM and Tanner the Treasurer we would all be better off

  • Totally agree with you. They both make so much more sense. Plus, they are both funny in Parliament. I think Gillard has been watching old Keating clips

  • turnbull sucks... SOON THE RISE OF COSTELLO WILL HAPPEN MUHAHAHAHA

  • Educated and concise. Probably the best thing to happen as a result of the last election wasn't the election of Rudd but the rise of Turnbull.

  • yeh because finding 'educated' people is impossible.. all hail the king. Malcolm Turnbull?

    /sarcasm.

ur overhyping him. its very easy to criticize

  • If you didn't add the sarcasm tag I really would have taken you seriously and agreed, educated people are hard to find.

  • yeh but i mean you make it sound like his phenomenal, sure his smart i mean HIS THE LEADER OF A MAJOR PARTY Ruddy is pretty smart also and he is doing pretty well unless he brings in 'internet filters'.

but 'the rise of turnbull' makes it sound like his a new Noam Chomsky or something has formed.

This is Australia remember, were not to bad on the educated count... i think?

  • No I meant a rise as in a shift in direction from the retarded personality cult around Howard that dominiated the liberal party for the last decade. All the liberals need to do is purge some fringe fundie MPs and pretty much all of the young liberals and they'll have a decent party.

Rudd at his core is a member of the Labour Right with much of his cabinet and the control freak accusations have plenty of grounding.

  • ye well sometimes we need 'control freak/socialist policies'. we do claim to operate under a mixed market economy after all we don't claim to be free market.

yeah the Libs do not look like such a formidable opponent these days I think its more because we are so used to Howard/Ruddock/Costello/Downer. Labor may be in for a while this in my opinion was the vice versa during the Labor Beazley/Crean/Latham period where Liberal had no real opposition.

I must say Turnbull is looking good though.

  • Turnball sounds like a PM + the people around him make more sense than Ruddy's front benchers.

  • Turnbull is an excellent public speaker, Rudd is out of his depth.

  • The truth is finally spoken
