Inkscape beginner tutorial: Spiro Swirls and flourishes

i cant find hte small triangle mentioned in 01:32

where is it?

@hillaryishillary - Inkscape plays small tricks with that, but if you used the "edit on canvas" method as explained (from the path editor sidebar), then it will appear at the TOP LEFT CORNER of the DOCUMENT (the white rectangle that indicates the page). So, with the option "edit on canvas" selected, browse to the upper left corner of the document and you should be able to see it. I left these instructions also on the tutorial page at verysimpledesigns.

I have viewed this several times and the part that doesen't work for me is when I start drawing the spiral, it does not at all work as you are showing....selecting the bezier tool, spiral mode and triangle in - I can't figure it out at all!

Hi,

I am not sure what part for you is not working. I Assume that you have no problems selecting the tools, as you mention them - I am going to guess that you cannot get a smooth spiral to draw.

The above tutorial does not really show this in detail, but the spiral you draw does need to have "some flow" to make the spiro kick in. A step-by-step explanation is given in the sketch and hatch tutorial on our site.
