Id love to see Lyd and Russell head a train! now that would be quite something!!!
Im a fan of all three railways so i feel it would be a great thing to see new build LYD next to newly restored origional WHR RUSSELL (once restoration is complete). I can but dream : - )
@Mikal2475 Yeah, hopefully! I've read that Lew could also be in Argentina. I think that once Lyn is completed & Yeo is under construction, the L&B should send a group to Brazil & Argentina & do a thorough search for Lew, then have money to restore Lew if Lew's found. I think that if Lew's first train on the new L&B (if found) should be a doubleheader with the new Yeo. In 1935, the last L&B train was pulled by Yeo & Lew.
Fantastic! Who would have thought they would ever see an L&B engine run again? Looking forward to seeing her finished in SOUTHERN green at Woody Bay sometime (next year perhaps?), and with the front cowcatcher fitted! Hope to see her in September though................
Very impressive video..the engine looks and sounds very good indeed, and no shortage of power,I'd guess...I never thought I'd ever see one of these locomotives for real....Guess what everyone is waiting for is seeing this in Southern green on the Lynton and Barnstable in the near future, but it will be a very unusual, useful and welcome engine in North Wales too,I am sure.
wow nice video been wating to see lyd for ages when i went to ffestiniog last week it wasnt running in. shame i diddn't see it but this video is stunning and carnt wait to see it running 5 stars
Absolutely fantastic. I can't begin to tell you how great it is to finally see Lyd steaming at the head of a train. I'm sure I'm not the only one!! Congratulations to all involved.
Will Lyd and coach 15 ever be put on long term loan to Lynton & Barnstaple?

How do you film Lyd running down the line like that?!?!? Also, I think Lyd might be at Woody Bay for the replica Lyn's steam up.

I personally think she looks very good without her cow-catcher - blends in with the other engines in the area a bit more.

This is great news to see Lyd finaly in action. Well do to all who have made this milestone achievable!
I am guessing you have not finished work on her yet, as I see the front 'cow-catcher' is not on. Are you still planning to do so?
Again, a fantastic video of a fantastic replica historic engine.. Will have plan a visit to see here in action myself soon.

@ukArtiest Rest assured the front cow catcher will return.

Such a fantastic looking and sounding machine. Fantastic! I have one question though. Is it Coal or Oil fired????
worldofwillow 1 year ago
@worldofwillow It is currently oil fired although it has been built so that it can easily be used with coal too.

That engine sounds great! Is it in a undercoat at the moment as i saw it before in southern livery? 5*
JacSGWR 1 year ago
@JacSGWR It will be in black for a while and the sometime next year I believe it will be painted in full on Southern livery.

Your new loco sounds great. I hope to visit some day and experience the 2' from end to end.
IMHO, 2' is the ideal gauge for a light rail system.
