  • who is the guy singing it in all actuality? i google it but it just says tso. as in the name of the guy

  • @joeyjofan jon oliva dude

  • @ 2:27-end of song Imagine hell. hot burning hell with people sinners suffering

  • I love how the Moonlight Sonata is at the end!

  • I love THIS song >.^

  • Very awesome song. Sounds like moonlight sonata after 2:30 or so

  • @drummerguy1989 It is. 1st mvnt. of the moonlight sonata.

  • I saw the show last fall and it was AWESOME!

  • I did.

  • @99863310 domineo is the sound you hear but the singers are really saying O domine repeated. And then leaving off the last domine. O would be translated O and domine can be taken to mean lord, master, or god (God) depending on the usage and context. Here I would think most likely God/master.

  • 2:22- Phenomenal Transition!!!!!!

  • does anyone know what domineo means?

  • @99863310 god i think

  • Who watched/listened to this just because of Mepphy from Ao No Exorcist? Reply saying: "I did!" for a free cookie! Also u will be entered in my own little drawing, and of course I'll draw from a hat and u will get a prize.

  • @inoms321 i did

  • Mephistopheles looks funny when snowflake-mode is enabled.

  • sounds like the dude from repo the genetic opra

  • Mephistopheles originally appeared in literature as the demon in the Faust legend. Nothing to do with religion .

  • this reminds me of phantom of the opera and tim burton mixed together O.o anyone else think this?

    completely amazing though.

  • I'm pretty sure I'm the only student in my high school who has read "Faust," and I've read it five times since. It is amazing, and Mephistopheles is my favorite. :) Even if he is a demon.

  • @DisterPluton omg, same!! No one else knows what I'm talking about XD

  • 77,777 views! On a song about religion? This can only mean one thing; I'm a screw it up.

  • @EpicFail7777777

It's not a song about religion; it's part of a CD called Beethoven's Last Night, and this song specifically is talking about a German demon named Mephistopheles who's in the 'story' that all the tracks together make up.

Not trying to be rude. Just thought you might want to know, because it's an interesting CD. ^_^

  • mistopholes the female form of mephistopheles is scarier imo.

  • Why does this sound like Danny Elfman to me?

  • @AngelOfLight50 I think it is

  • Does anyone know the notes for 2:25?

  • @animeloverforlife44 It's Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Just Google that!

  • mephistopheles and beethoven..... great blend....

  • Four people lost to Mephistopheles...

  • HAHA I'm studying for a German culture midterm I have tomorrow... Studying the story of Dr. Faustus, when I remembered TSO. So now I'm reading about Mephistopheles, while listening to Mephistopheles!

  • @eternalflames911 Faust, by Goethe.

  • what play is this based on? or, even better, what the heck is the song about? its a great song, but i sorta wish i could understand the lyrics' meaning...anyone?

  • @eternalflames911 if you went to their concert it was sort of like beethoven having to make a decision to be remembered though his music or give his soul to the devil, this is mephistopheles attempting to give one up

in the end beethoven gets to be remembered and no the devl doesnt get his soul

  • I keep picturing Jack Skellington singing

  • @Kainasse me too... and love it.....

  • The play this is based off of is amazing. If anyone else still reads plays.

  • Dude. Wtf.. I am loving this Tras-Siberian Orchestra. SO FUCKING BADASS.

  • O_O is that Jack Skellington singing?

  • This would perfectly for Aladin (1001 Nights)... if anyone knows that movie xD

  • Tim Burton needs to make a movie with this album as the soundtrack

  • @TheSpaceRockstar No, he needs to make a movie based on the album's story with these songs in it! (Yes, the album actually has a full-out story.)

  • @MaverickHunterZero75 dont worry i know about the albums story either way Tim Burton+TSO=Awesomes

  • @TheSpaceRockstar It would.

  • @TheSpaceRockstar That would be brutal... in a good way.

  • @TheSpaceRockstar nah dont ruin the good thing

  • @chaos396 Lol i know this is two months later but everything about that game was cheap. Totally agree though. This song would've.gave Mephiles' first appearance that extra freak factor

  • Mephistopheles is the demon in my book The Wardrobe. He is the one who hates light, the gatherer of souls and a powerful entity.

  • I listen to this everyday! Love it.

  • Hahaha so I know the basic plot of the story but why how did Beethoven loose his soul in the first place????

  • @nibblesfan By selling it?

  • @nibblesfan He didn't lose it. Mephistopheles was only trying to trick him into giving up his soul or his tenth symphony.

  • Xena killed Mephistopheles. Nuff said.

  • Imagine...A live concert put on by Dream Theater and TSO...pure headbanging yet beautiful madness

  • @M3TalMan99 beautiful madness, well said.

  • @limetime18 Why, thank you

  • ...3 people are going to have Mephisto after them. >_>

  • Paradise Lost

  • I would have loved it if this was the theme of Mepholes in Sonic 06, but you know Sega is too lazy to pay the extra money for such awesome music. And I mean awesome in the literal sense, not the over-used sense.

  • Mephistopheles informs Beethoven that he has come to collect the composer's soul.

  • Faced with eternal damnation, the terrified composer claims that it cannot be his time, that he has yet to complete his Tenth Symphony. Mephistopheles looks at the manuscript and then with seemingly uncharacteristic generosity, offers to give him as much additional time as he needs, but only if he will tell him what parts he plans to add or change. Beethoven is forced to admit that it is his masterpiece and he would not change a single note.

  • His bluff called, Beethoven still can not believe that this is how his life must end. Mephistopheles assures him that not only is it so, but his reaction is the nearly universal response from every man who is about to be condemned to hell. But he then tells Beethoven he is a very fortunate man, for he has decided to offer the maestro something very rarely offered to humans at the end of their time, a second chance, a possible way out of his most unfortunate dilemma.

  • I love to listen to the song called "Mephistopheles" when I am watching

Kuroro from Jetter Mars episode called "The Vampire from Outer Space" on Thursday, May 5, 1977 and Katz from "Katz Candy" on Friday, March 16, 2001, and "Katz under the sea" on Friday, June 21, 2002.

  • This song totally fits Mephisto Pheles! (Blue Exorcist anyone?)

  • @botgal1 I really enjoy that anime. Listening to this song I feel like he'll turn out to be a bad guy, but he's hard to figure out. That being said, he does give Rin a lot of second chances.

  • @botgal1 I just realized that his character was a play on words of the demon mephistopheles.Ao No Exorcist was a disappointing anime to be honest. It started out good then they decided to ruin it.

  • @botgal1 Yea, if you think about it, yea.

  • @botgal1 I was actually looking one day for a AMV of Mephisto Pheles to this song. But alas none have posted such a video -sigh-

  • @botgal1 Hell yeah.

  • @botgal1 damn! an anime reference on a TSO video?? AWESOME!!

  • @botgal1 Hehe. I love Ao No Exorcist <3 And I agree it totally fits Mephy.

But I think this song is mostly for Mephistopheles, the devil from "Faust"

  • @wdebo5487 It is , but its funny to think of Mephisto from Ao no Exorcist while listening to it :D

  • @RSVDCN OMG! Hight 5, ANE' fan :D!

Someone needs to made an AMV with this!!!

  • This song calms me down.

  • @2gurlsinconverse It does have that effect i agree. Ironic though since its about the devil trying to buy your soul.

  • Who sings this?

  • @indoorin Jon Oliva.

  • EPIC

  • This song is gonna give me nightmares. That's a complement btw.....

  • this sounds much better if you hear it live!

  • It sounds like Jack Skelington is singing.

  • I wish they would do a DVD of this..... or even a play....

  • @djmadamenoir the live shows are plays ... actors and everything

  • The whole album is conceptual. It is similar to the story of Faust and Mephistopheles. It is set in early spring 1827, presumably March 27, the morning he died. The album focuses on his bartering with Mephistopheles to spare his soul in exchange for the Tenth Symphony, which he says will be the best musical piece ever written if it is completed.

  • i love jon olivia

  • Love these guys, seen them once live. One of the greatest shows I have been too. Sadly they didn't go into their darker songs like the above :( Epic song, epic story, truly and epic group of people.

  • I'm going to a TSO Beethoven's Last Night concert on mothers day

  • Frighteningly wonderful.

  • I noticed the songs were connected in a story, but i wonder if its been made into a play/musical? That'd be cool.

  • @RiverOfSteel This piece is based on a play called Faustus!

  • Request: Lyrics on those TSO songs that have them, the two screenshots all the way through is really dull. Thank you for these songs, they are awesome!

  • These are my main music styles, and I think they are yours too:

    Metal:King Diamond/Judas Priest

    Opera like music/Peacefull music:Trans Siberian Orchestra/Loreena McKernitt

House(not realy house, as it has orchestra, instruments, meaning):E NOMINE,Diary of Dreams, Enigma(not too much)

  • to anyone who duznt know , the voice is JON OLIVA...

  • This is a debt (fate) that will be paid no matter who you may be or what your social status may be. Poor and rich alike. Educated or not , he will come. What will do when he does comes? Hmmmm?

  • Watch : O (oh) Death

  • He is negotiating with death. As do most humans when death does come to escort us from this realm.

  • @hybrid69able Actually this is Mephistopheles who says he has claim to Beethoven's soul.

  • is i t just me or does the guy at the beginning sound like Jack Skellington?

  • @loitagrl12 that's because that's danny elfman, the singing voice of jack (or at least, I'm pretty sure it is)

  • @loitagrl12

Totally agree to that he sounds like Jack Skellington o_o.... But I am not sure if it really is him.

  • @ZigfriedVonSchroider it in fact is Danny Elfman the singing voice of Jack Skellington

  • if they ever make a movie about the legend of Faust, this needs to be on the sound track

  • @CraveCase16 completely agree. especially if it's based on Goethe's play/alchemical text.

  • Trans-Siberian Orchestra gives me chills with their songs. I absolutely LOVE the piano piece in this particular one :D

  • at first i thought he singer sounded like jack skellington from nightmare b4 xmas

  • So devious...hmmm?

  • Mephistopheles? AKA Satan? AKA the Devil? Jeeeezus Christ!!!

  • @silverzt69 Mephistopheles isn't really the devil, but actually a German demon, but ever since he was conjured up in an old Faust tale, he has been in the folklore as the Devil.

  • am i the only one that thinks the vocalist sounds like jack from nightmare before christmas?

  • @LMeister55 You mean he sounds like Danny Elfman?

Anyway, I was very happy to see that TSO did a rendition of this magnificent play. It has not disappointed me.

  • Who is the person that does the vocals for this song and for Mephistopeles' Return?

  • 1 person will DIE IN A FIRE

  • ok, i hav all the other albums except Beethoven's Last Night which has this song. so i had no idea who Mephistopheles was until i looked him up - found out he was another name 4 Satan. i mean i love this song & a t-shirt i saw of tht was awesome. but can anyone PLZ tell me wat Mephistopheles has to do w. TSO? i REALLY want to know the plot behind the album. i would be sooo happy thnx! :D

  • @tsofan13 he is taunting beethoven on the last night of his death, because beethoven doesnt want to leave the Earth before he finishes his music

  • One Person has a valued and valid opinion and not a single person should flame him or her, her or him for you feminists out there, for not liking a song. Thank you and good night.

  • @RobOMcnugget or they're just a jackass who likes to vote down stuff just to see people react to it...

  • they should put it on a musical.or make a musical with all their songs

  • @electraangels they are.like a story plot using their songs

  • The Nightmare Before Christmas anyone???

  • @BaneOfXistence4 lol i said the same thing

  • @BaneOfXistence4 I thought that's what it was for a second xD

  • @BaneOfXistence4 hell yeah!!

  • disney villian theme haha

  • Are these songs they made up themselves?

  • This is one of the sexiest voices ever.

  • the guy who sings mephistopheles sounds like the guy that play jack in nightmare before christmas.... and this song reminds me of REPO MAN THE GENETIC OPERA

  • Flawless Victory.

  • Romans spoke Latin, so hence, Dominao, or as most lyric sites have it posted and claim that is what the CD booklet claims the lyrics to be, O domine, is Latin. Latin was then mixed and changed with the languages of other Italian provinces to make what we know as modern day Italian. But, this is all just semantics. Your splitting hairs by arguing what languge it is or the meaning. in context to this song it means Lord/God refering to Mephistopheles calling himself the "God of Second Chances."

  • I love this Album. The story of Faust + The music of Beethoven + The music of TSO = WIN

  • Domine is latin for Master, it is not exclusive to pastors.

  • @Eldrast but it's not domine it is dominao which is Roman for death or the death master

  • Ah, the moonlight sonata piece at the end is the icing on the cake

  • @LadyArania: Domine is also Latin for "Lord," or "Master." They're saying "Oh Lord" over and over again.

  • @SaigeCounsul no they don't say domine they say dominao which is Roman for death or death master

actually they say both lord lord lord then they say death death death death death/lord

  • @SaigeCounsul I thought that was weird... after all Mephistiopheles is apparenty the name of satan. it makes no sense for the chorus and him to say that.

  • @ridingisasport hes saying lord over and over cuz hes saying hes the god of second chance

  • @froggermea96 yeah.... but it seems funny to me that he would choose THAT word to convey his control .... I mean, mephistophiles is essentially Satan, and I think its odd that he would draw that connection with what I assume to be the Christian deity God. I mean , I just logically dont see why he did that.

  • @ridingisasport yeah but o domine means master ... which means he is like the master of second chance or hell or whatever he is from

  • @froggermea96 ah, now THAT makes sense! thanks!

  • @ridingisasport ur welcome :)

  • I'm confused, near the end of the song they repeat "O Domine". Domine is another term for a pastor. Why is Mephistopheles referring to Beethoven as a pastor?

  • Please, let it go one forever!!!! I can never get enough of TSO. So dark and tempting. The music just touches my soul. Thank God for TSO.

  • Mephistopheles is another name for Satan. Like Beelzebub, Lucifer, Prince of Darkness, etc. I read up on it.

  • @Emeraldwing7 You are 100% correct. Finally someone else who knows.

  • @Emeraldwing7 Ironic how Lucifer and Prince of darkness are synonymous considering their origins

  • @Emeraldwing7 mephistopheles is a faustian character who isnt satan, but one of his agents, and one of his more powerful ones at that.

  • @generosos87 Actually, you may be right about that. I just looked it up. I don't know what to believe anymore. The book, or information from the internet.

  • @generosos87 he is also more widely know as mephisto, right?

  • THIS SONG IS JUST EPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!!!!!!

  • Mephistopheles=A servant of satan, also known as The Grim Reaper...

  • I'd like to see "who is this child" posted. I believe thats the name of the song.

  • this is wonderful! it reminds me of when jack skelingiton sings in the pumpkin patch and cenitary haha

  • @tigerlily43 I was just going to say this reminds me of A Nightmare Before Christmas lol.

  • @qazzaqplmmlp omg ikr??

  • Now, this is a great song. Loved it!

  • WMG takes down all TSO vids. Be warned.

  • I LOVE THEIR CONCERTS they've got lasers and fire and haze its AWESOME!!!!

  • I simply love this song. I find myself listening to it all day. Something just draws me to the macabre magic of the song. The Return song does the same, as well.

  • I just saw them last night in Erie doing this album. I loved the guy they had on stage for this song (not this guy) although he is great as well, the guy on stage had a deeper voice.

  • Simply put awesome, also Mephistopheles' Return is great to

  • Beautiful.

  • this has got to be my favorite song on the album (i just wish there was more of the verse, i LOVE how the piano is done, so solitary and broody). followed by the Waltzy part of what good is this deafness.. and then the Dark..

  • I like Night castle, but then I listen to this song and it's clear that Beethoven's last night is their best album. Is a masterpiece.

  • i must say this is an excellent song, the voice work is superb.

Mario, this song was obviously posted with no intentions of garnering any money. It is soley up for the prupose of discussion as provided by US Copyright laws

  • Be warned! I have seen SEVERAL videos of this song [Mostly DMVs and AMVs.], they've all been taken down.

  • and? your point is? it says in the discription that tso owns this song so its not like 0yeahman is trying to take credit. the video was posted so we could listen to it and discuss.

  • I absolutely ADORE TSO, especially this song. The first TSO I heard was Beethoven's Last Night, and at the time I didn't realize the songs were all connected in a story, so I was just listening to them all in a row not really thinking about it. But when this song came on, I literally caught my breath and had to stop what I was doing and just... listen. Jon's voice is absolutely breathtaking, I love TSO and I love Savatage!

  • @myoneandonly89 100% agree and funny how this is almost like my story haha :)

  • @myoneandonly89 this one and night castle are my favorite albums. the story is so sad... :'''(

  • @froggermea96 I know!!! D: "Epiphany" from Night Castle hits me right in the heartstrings every time. I love that "Come one, come all!" rant Rob Evan does about halfway through the track - I even memorized it so I can say it at the same time during the song!
