  • sweet : )

  • This trio is a ton of fun to play (as a pianist). But then the entire chamber music literature is... :-)

  • Oh I wish I was the man at 1:29 who opened the door for Kempff....

  • Kempff and Szeryng recorded Beethoven's trios with ...Fournier!

  • @missionfarstar yes it is from the 60s recorded in Berlin... Kempff has a special way to express Beethoven pieces, he has recorded the Beethoven Sonata cycle twice in his career, nobody knew the sonatas as well as he did! The 32 sonatas played by Kempff was my first ever CD collection! :)

  • 1:34 Kempff is a pimp.

  • When was this done...it looks like 1960's????Maybe just the way they're dressed?

  • Outstanding for his first ever piece! I was expecting a piano sonata in C major but he conjures up complex rythms and modulations. Way better than some of Mozart's first ever pieces.

  • @MooMeowRawr

Hardly his first piece ever. The Opus 1 Trios were his first published works, coming at the age of 23. Mozart was churning stuff out by the age of six. It just took Beethoven a little longer to get his act together!

  • Love the Beethoven Trios. Thanks for this rare footage of the master musician's rehearsal. We are lucky it exists!

  • Beethoven Op. 1 trios are a BLAST to play! - especially as a pianist ;-)

  • why the cellist is not Fournier?!

  • @dschanghsin

His Beethoven violin sonatas are brilliant !

  • @yenhoho

    Totalement d'accord.

  • Thanks for uploading this trio. It is lovely.

  • The sensibility of W. Kempff for Chambermusic is really amazing the opend the extra dimension for his two collegs here ,wich is needed for Beethoven.

  • looks like old giotto3cento had a change of heart

  • ...! Very retro-KITCH video, indeed ! Pretty GOOD balanced sharp & toned SOUND too, for such a long time ago ! So stunning...

But what was actually Herr Wilheim ' mother's last name ?i? Grazie Mille.

Thanks a lot for all your answers ! Merci bien pour ttes vos réponses nouvelles zét einetéressantes !!! :-o))

And What would U think about "dining with the W.KEMPFF's whole family", for instance...?! Thx.

    Dunke LUFTHANSA !!!

  • Mr Franck Vincent ZAPPA diceva : "Does humor belongs to music** ?" ;-o) . Ma certo e sicuuuro ☛ HERE in this FANTASTICO TRIO ! hu...Was ist dasss!?!.... :(( ♨

A s(w)inging&heavy lesson ! Typical german spirit syntaxis : they just began to speak - but still have finished ♬...!? And italian translation is definitivly +hilaring+. What an awesome but amazing trio out of time. I agree W.Kempff has a totally angelic and entertaining smile ! How old is Herr Maestro on this track ?! Kempff is a Great pianist, but a big comic too...!!! (L. De Funes german twin brother ?). That's HUGE. Did he try ecstazy, yet ? :-))

  • I have never met Wilhelm Kempff, but he seems like a very nice person indeed. He has a lovely, neary angelic, smile.

  • ¡gracias!

  • Wow. To think that someone would give a user a thumbs down for typing in another language.

On another note, I love this video.

  • wonderful

  • wow...that was amazing!!!

  • Wow beautiful! I could only dream of playing the violin this well.

    Maravilloso!Wunderbar!!!!!!!

  • I'm new to Classical music, but Beethoven overwhelmed me right away, as soon as I started listening to his music. I have to hear everything he's writen.

Wow! This is beautiful! I love the way they play - with skill and love. <3 <3

  • RavenHairedLady. If you are new to classical, you are certainly aiming at the top here. You won't get a much better trio than this!

  • Agreed, although Schubert's are great too!

  • Thank you and may God bless the kind of music to share on Youtube.

  • i love passage 4.16-5.50 especially! pure bliss!

  • thank you so much for uploading this wonderful work! may i make an interesting point though:

    part 1 views: 10,838

    part 2 6,910

    part 3 5,703

what can we infer from the above? the short attention span of your average youtube viewer. it's a trend I have often noticed with other classical music videos if they have more than one part...hehe

  • Awesome! Bravo! TY.

  • SWEET! a video with my favorite pianist, one of my friends favorite violinists and an awesome cellist! thanks for posting!

  • beautiful music.

  • It´s very beautiful piece!!! I love it!!!

  • Wow! And to think I thought Bonn was boring.

  • Beautyful contribution to the youtube classical music community! Bravo!

  • I love this Trio, playing it this term with my trio =) Great video, thanks for posting!

    was meint er damit?

  • absolutely beautiful, thanks

  • Freude, Freude, Freude.

  • Thank you very, very much for posting.... The performance and discussion are fascinating. Please post more things like this.....

  • thanks for this wonderfull video!!!!!!

  • WOW! didn't know even this was filmed! hope there's more

  • Is there any place I can get this on DVD? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

  • Thank you for posting this. Kempff and Szeryng are two of my favourite musicians. I love the performance and the pep-talk. An inside look at the communication of chamber musicians [great musicians in their own right also]. very interesting!

  • Kempff is my favourite Beethoven interpreter. Since childhood I listened all of Beethoven sonatas played by Kempff... nobody comes close to him!!!
