love the V-Max, got one myself, 06, best truck, wouldn't ask for anything more. how do you like the CAI? thinking of putting one in mine, but don't know which is the best. that spectre looks sharp as hell.

So these had the same motor as the 03-04 Silverado SS right? For some reason I didn't know you could get the 6.0 in the half ton back then, I've only seen them in the new bosy style Chevys/GMCs. Nice truck man, sounds awesome!

@impalass07 yeah, this has the same motor as the silverado ss. it's a lq9 6.0l. the silverado ss ran from 03-06 and always had the lq9. chevy and gmc started offering the lq9 in non ss 1500s in 04 under the name vortec high output (vho). vho's were made in 04 and 05, then the name was changed to vortec max in 06. in 06 you had the choice between ext cab or 4 doors and 2wd or 4wd. thanks man! check out the vid after the header install. it's a lot louder in real life.

Nice truck I would love to have that engine in my 01 well sorta. I heard these yr GM trucks were when GM started to build lower quality trucks though. Still Nice.

thanks. drop a lq9 in your truck man...you won't regret it. as far as gm making lower quality trucks, i haven't had any problems out of mine. i haven't heard of anybody complaining about the lq9 tearing up or anything like that.

thanks man. no i didn't do an engine swap - that's the vortec max package. as far as swapping engines go, it's really easy for these trucks. you already have a 4l60e so the trans wont be a problem. just shop around and you can find a 6.0 lq9 or lq4 for reasonably cheap. good luck!

thanks for the info. yea im not much of a gear head. but im startin to get into all this stuff. i will definately 6.0 sometime around the summer. and eventually supercharge it. i just got my tranny upgraded with performance parts. shell, gears, the whole nine yards. really made a big differents. it barks the tires goin into second. but yea you outta make some burnout vids!!

@16barrett yeah the 6.0l can be picked at a junkyard for like 800$ with everything. and a 408 stroker kit is cheap. that would throw alot of power at it for not too much money. as for me im sticking with my 4.8 for now. want to see how much power i can get out of it before she blows up.

i raced a friends car that ran a 15.2 and i beat him by 3 cars i wishfuly hope my truck would pulloff a 14.8 that would nice for a 5400lb truck

it all depends on your budget and your goals for the truck...but some solid mods from stock for anybody would be a cold air intake, exhaust, long tube headers, 160 degree thermostat, and custom tune.

out of all of those, i saw the biggest gain from the custom tune...itll seem like a completly different truck

Freakin Bad Ass Truck!! With just a hot cam, springs, and a 3200 stall TC and your puttin out bout 420 hp+!!! And by the way, I have the same CAI and it works just as good as any other.

I have the same truck 06 MAX with Flowmaser Dual 40's also, but a K&N drop in air filter. Can you elaborate on your intake and any others mods? Love the wheels, mine are the 20" GMC "star"

thanks...right now im running a spectre cold air intake...its nothing fancy...got it for $105...couldnt really justify paying an extra 200 dollars or more to get a more expensive intake when all it is really is just a filter and a tube you know

just the cold air intake and the flows are really the only mods i have right now...hopefully before the summer is over i will be able to get some pacesetter lts, delete the cats, put a 160* thermostat, and have the pcm custom tuned by wheatley
