We would set up our 6 laptops and one persons house and quest like it was our job. I want the good old times back... Its not as much about maple story but about the friendships that grew out of it for me. It was just a way that we could all bond. RIP Maple Story
Just played MS for the first time since 2006 as a beta tester. The most updated thing before I quit was the Korean town thing. I remember going through dungeons with parties, fighting the zombies for hours to grind, visiting Balrog, hiding in the plane against the flying Balrog, countless hours waiting for PQ at Kerning. And now, there's some PVP feature where I can level from 92 - 94 in one day without the need of potions, when it used to take us 1 hour to just gain ~5-10%. Underappreciated now
Yes i agree it's pretty easy to lvl up nowadays compared to back then. But maplestory has 200 levels. Try lvling to 200 in like 2 weeks. I've been an active mapler since 2006. Yes, maple was better in some ways back then and also had a better community. Henesys pq was awesome. Kerning pq was great (the waiting XD) When i look back, i could just cry. I loved the old maple VERY MUCH!! But we can't go back, we can only move forward. So let's just enjoy this nostalgic music and love life as it is!

You know I would download this song and listen to it all the time, but then everytime I listen to it I get a blast of nostalgia, pretty much forcing me into downloading the game, then realizing that... NEW MAPLE SUCKS =_=.
@thecrossov3r OMG hahahaha, I did that when the old sauna glitch was around! As soon as I died to some evil eyes, I was looking for a way out and stumbled into the sauna and I could never log in to my character again :(
It's amazing what a simple BGM could do to you... this is the most powerful feeling of nostalgia I've ever felt. Do you remember the days when there was only Victoria Island, then we got so excited with Orbis? How we were way too poor to afford the taxi, so we had to walk to the Three-Path Way with this beautiful Lith Harbor music playing in the background. Just grinding, chilling, meeting new people... it feels like it was just yesterday when I played old Maple... so heartbreaking.
I remember maplestory in the old days everyone would be crowded at Moon bunny PQ and Kerning PQ it would be so hard to find a channel :( maplestory that i love please come back
@iGotagunhehe The "old days" don't even include moon bunny PQ. That's a really new addition to all us oldschool players. By then Maple was already different.

This song totally reminds me of the wonder I felt when I first landed on Lith Harbour, and the many friends I made on Maplestory back in the old days. I'm not one to whine about changes, as Nexon has expanded the game which is expected of a game that has become popular. However, what I miss the most is the community back then. When I screwed up my first KPQ for the whole team everyone was patient and taught me, now they would kick you for jumping on barrels too slowly.
This game is shit now, this is coming from a beta player.
Leveling was much MUCH harder back in the day, after beta. Level 50 was considered godly, you felt proud to have the best gear, and the highest level. When you had to trade in Perrion Channel 1, and the godliest item was 60% claw attack scroll. This was right after the beta, and some of the best memory's I have of the game.
As a game designer, I will make a successor to this, and it will be much more like the old days of maple story.
This, in my opinion, is the best music on MapleStory. It was the first music you heard on Victoria Island. When you got off the boat for the first time, you had this amazing feeling of adventure and satisfaction -- You were moving on in the Maple World, out to explore and finally make your first job advancement. Back then, it took quite some time just to get to level ten (or eight) to make your job advancement. Now, it's considered slow if you don't reach level 30 within the first day. :(

When i make new characters, i always make them with the Rebel hair, white top, blue shorts and red shoes, weapon of choice? axe,sword or that wooden club lol
Played Maplestory when it was still in Beta testing. Pretty much after the black mage was released and leveling got easier it got worse. Classes are so broken right now.
What pains me the most, is remembering 4th grade having so much fun in summer when it came out.When you had that funny sprout outfit at the beginning and there was only warrior, bowman, mage and rogue. Running around doing random stuff and talking with friend and meeting nice people. I miss that life.

Back then when MrYanDao was the bigshot and we'd all try to reach level 70 at maple island. Now Maple becomes a business and people spend loads of money to be the best. Back then you didn't even have to buy 5k cash to be a pro.

@mariofin101 Not really. If you would notice, MapleStory is unique, because it seems like no game has more classes than MapleStory does. Now MapleStory already has 19 classes, including BD, 3 Hero and others. (Plus 2 more Heros coming up). So yeah MapleStory would have the TOTAL OF MORE THAN 21 CLASSES.
I don't know any game that has more classes than that ('cause I don't play many games lol). Tell me if you know.
I am completely overwhelmed with the memories this song brings back to me. Just listening to it again makes me remember back to when I was young and MapleStory was my life. Now that I am older, I hardly have any time to play it, and it is slowly making its way out of my life. But even if the game is gone, the music and memories will always remain in my heart. <3
Nostalgia is a wonderful and terrible thing. Listening to this song reminds me of the countless hours I spent playing the original maplestory before things like BasilMarket, Nexon, Ludi, Aqua, etc. Those happy memories of a friendly, helpful community and innocence make my heart ache. Yet i look back on it and realize that even if Nexon released an older version of MS, it wouldnt be the same for me anymore. I'm older. I've changed. And so has the MS i used to love so much
They should bring back the old maple. They should have 2 versions of maplestory.One for those who want to play the newer version and the other for the old maplestory.

When playing MapleStory years and years ago, it took extremely long to level up. A lot of our time was spent doing quests and traveling around. We actually explored deeply into all areas, since there weren't as many as there are now.
It seems nowadays that you can get to level 120 and not even know the basics of MapleStory and where things are. A little sad........in a way.
I remember when i reached lith for the very first time and went into the store and saw all these weapons. I bought all of them, long sword, double handed ax, and even the dagger

Maplestory back in the day was a place to chill and have fun, level up and fight if you want to... nowadays it's either spend thousand dollars (not exaggerating) or more or be a frikin noob. Sure you can reach 200 but not a single new boss will be beaten...

i first started this game when i was 6. i was reeeaally addicted to it. and now in 2011 the game has so many events and random stuff and the land is all changed. i can barely even recognize maplestory anymore. it was a lot better then. i wish we could all tell nexon to bug off and get wizet back

I remember when I became a Cleric and people loved me for my level 1 Heal. Parties would always be so happy to find a Cleric 11pm at night :). Then they would be sad cuz I had to go to sleep. Nowadays parties could do without Clerics. People only become Clerics just to grind for mesos now.
You guys are weird. Maplestory only gets better. Sure, the old days are nice, and I remember them well, but Teleport still makes you faster than any other class, with the exception of Flash Jumpers, but it's not useless by any means. It's no longer the grindfest it once was, and that actually makes it fun to play.
...They did change the title screen music though. And that was silly.
So much nostalgia.... I remember buying the fruit knife for the first time. So many snails had to die that day. I used to be so addicted to this game. Back around 2006 - 2007 when I was in 8th grade. It took me until I was level 16 to figure out what I wanted to be. I took a trip to Ellinia. The music alone guided me towards my true destiny.
Now, here we are today. Being t-bagged by Nexon and losing our accounts. My level 88 I/L Mage has gone down the drain. If only I could do it all again.....

This game is shit now, this is coming from a beta player.

When playing MapleStory years and years ago, it took extremely long to level up. A lot of our time was spent doing quests and traveling around. We actually explored deeply into all areas, since there weren't as many as there are now.
It seems nowadays that you can get to level 120 and not even know the basics of MapleStory and where things are. A little sad........in a way.

Maplestory back in the day was a place to chill and have fun, level up and fight if you want to... nowadays it's either spend thousand dollars (not exaggerating) or more or be a frikin noob. Sure you can reach 200 but not a single new boss will be beaten...

i first started this game when i was 6. i was reeeaally addicted to it. and now in 2011 the game has so many events and random stuff and the land is all changed. i can barely even recognize maplestory anymore. it was a lot better then. i wish we could all tell nexon to bug off and get wizet back

before the "big bang" the game was legit. i actually liked it. now, the whole map changed and all this crap was added, it's not even original anymore. the pqs have been ditched and now it's all the carnival stuff lol. the orinigal brings back memories :')

I remember when I became a Cleric and people loved me for my level 1 Heal. Parties would always be so happy to find a Cleric 11pm at night :). Then they would be sad cuz I had to go to sleep. Nowadays parties could do without Clerics. People only become Clerics just to grind for mesos now.

You guys are weird. Maplestory only gets better. Sure, the old days are nice, and I remember them well, but Teleport still makes you faster than any other class, with the exception of Flash Jumpers, but it's not useless by any means. It's no longer the grindfest it once was, and that actually makes it fun to play.
...They did change the title screen music though. And that was silly.
But it's all cool.

So much nostalgia.... I remember buying the fruit knife for the first time. So many snails had to die that day. I used to be so addicted to this game. Back around 2006 - 2007 when I was in 8th grade. It took me until I was level 16 to figure out what I wanted to be. I took a trip to Ellinia. The music alone guided me towards my true destiny.
Now, here we are today. Being t-bagged by Nexon and losing our accounts. My level 88 I/L Mage has gone down the drain. If only I could do it all again.....
