@Brophy2008 No, but it makes it easier. If you search on amazon for "nike plus sensor holder," you'll find a lot of holders you can use with any shoe.
And even better, if you upgrade to the Nike+ GPS app, you don't need the sensor. Your iPod or iPhone accelerometer records your runs. I switched to the GPS app, and I love it.
@vtothet12 Yeah, that's an accurate statement comparing Nike+ running shoes to other running shoes. There are Nike+ cases I've seen on Amazon that strap on to regular shoes. But I don't know if that would work as well as the real deal.
@Sk8ordieknarlysk8er Thanks good. Thanks for watching. Yeah, it seems to be accurate and is suppose to be good for most people by default. Even though you can calibrate it just for you to be extra sure. I didn't calibrate mine yet.
So is the sensor always on then? Or do you take it out after each run and turn it off? Or does it auto shutoff and start up somehow?

@jutram22 I'm not sure. I don't think so. Is that a feature of some of Nike shoes? If so, I don't remember these shoes having it.

so the only difference between a nike+ shoe and a regular shoe is the socket?
