What Obama's folks are doing is streamlining this dinosaur of an agency, and place more of the intiative on private industry. He ended the Constellation program. We was going to make a return trip to the moon and hopefully would of made a lunar base. All that is gone now NASA is going to focus on climate monitoring. And leave manned space exploration to others.

While it's hard to budget everything, I was not totally impressed by the end of the moon program. As humans, if we want to remain in the universe, we're going to have to colonize on other planets or other places. It should be imperative that we take steps in that direction, or we shall meet our end sooner rather than later.

Although much is spent for such programs, in the long run it is this type of programs that will help us create and expand into a bigger world, because you can never know what could be found.
