  • Глядя на подобное видео, понимаешь, почему советский балет был впереди планеты всей. Прыжки божественны!

  • the man who speaks in the begining says that this variation is from the ballet ''le corsaire'' so obviously they were doing it in corsaire as well

  • Вот как надо прыгать минимум:):):):) Это прыжок от Бога, ТАКОЙ НЕ НАРАБОТАЕШЬ!!!

  • This clip is featured on the UK newspaper ''The Guardian'' 's new dance page today. Brilliant, thanks for posting.

  • Holy shizz. Wish I could dance like tht... :P I'll work on it. XD

  • Wow she was really good !!!!!

  • she's great! however this is from Don Quixote!

  • That's how the Primas do it.

  • She is the cornerstone for all following ballerina's technical interpretation of this variation. She's my kinda girl!

  • ALLA SIZOVA ,best prima ballerina and the bestest teacher EVEEEER!

  • @alniya33 You are very fortunate to have her as your teacher! :-)

  • @Pearlaceous thank u! and yes i was very fortunate to had her as a teacher,i miss her very much!

  • Natalia Osipova's sibling. lol.

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • High, strong, light, clean and danced with such charm and elan - every time I see this I am in awe. Phenomenal jumping from a wonderful ballerina.

  • Woah!

And people think Osipova is a good jumper?? (okay, she is haha). But Sisova is freaking amazing and that was way back in the day! And she doesn't sacrifice emotion when doing these big tricks--which I think Osipova does. Amazing. I don't know why I haven't heard of her before.

  • @nonavee3 she was among the leading kirov star of her generation often partner of the legendary yuri soloviev.but nowadays these names are alas no longer remembered as they deserves.

  • isnt this a variation from DOnQ not le corsaire!!! ^o)~

  • AMAZING turns toward the end.

  • Amazing. My ballet teacher was trained by her at the vagonova.

  • wooooww!!!! you cant take your eyes off her she is amazing!!!!!!!!

  • this is from don quixote!

  • im sorry but this is NOT from Le Corsaire its from Don Quxiote :))

  • @ToodyayDANCER4Ever This Variation is indeed the Dryads Qeeun Variation from Don Q, but it's also sometimes used for Corsaire...

  • @ToodyayDANCER4Ever

    Actually it's both.

  • this is truly artistic.

she plays with her role and she transforms it into something really beautiful, something really enjoyable to watch but at the same time she doesn't forgets her footwork that I have to admit it's really good.

There are few dancers, like her, that can really capture my attention in a way that I can't stop watching her.

God bless this amazing and beautiful dancer.

  • this is the real ballet!!!!

  • What beautiful high jumps Sizova had - thank you for uploading this!

  • my god she could jump!

  • Que linda, meu Deus...

  • oh my god amazing

  • Comment removed

  • that fouette combination is incredible!!

  • This is Queen Of The Dryads from Don Quixote.

  • Wow! Her jumps are amazing!!!

  • Could you please edit the title of your video? It's a variation from Don Quixote. Yes, we all know, the same music is used in both Don Q & Corsaire but this choreography is for Don Quixote, Queen of the Dryads and that is all. She's amazing BTW!

  • i was going to say that same thing!

  • I believe this is from the complete Corsaire pas de deux as performed by Sizova and Nureyev in their graduation performance (graduating from the Kirov school). I've also seen this choreography used elsewhere for the Corsair pdd, as well as in DQ.

  • Actually it could be from Corsaire, it has been used as the 2nd Act Medora variation. Its more commonly known as the variation of the Queen of the Dryads in Don Q

Its def not from Sleeping Beauty

  • I wonder if Osipova or Alexandrova can reach that kind of jump... or if this is something we´ll never see again... I watch this over and over and don´t get tired...

  • I already did, and for me it's kind of hard to say who goes higher, different styles and different variations both beautiful... I love Osipovas and Alexandrovas jumps... also there is a video here on yt on one of Osipovas DQ where she is really flying, it is kind of recently uploaded... I think they are really amazing - I'm just curious - If I could I would ask Osipova to do the first phrases on this variation : )

  • @bolshoiboy8 catwoman probabily can jump highter too ,l am surprised due the fact that a boy with your ballet knowledge doesn't appreciates the enchanting of her dancing and note her ballon.

  • thnx!!

  • my last comment was replying to kbtdance1222's comment..... lol (:

  • wow! she puts so much emotion into it, which is what makes her such a beautiful dancer.

  • She could give Baryshinkov a run for his money!!!!!!

  • hahahahaaha !! (:

  • She is so beautiful.

  • Now THIS is the real thing, the gold standard to which all other versions of this variation must be compared. A soaring jump, brilliant beats, graceful port de bras, and refined épaulement. By the way, Sizova's extension IS high--it just isn't extreme, and she does not distort classical line to raise her leg. I agree with odile77--this is real art.

  • ME 2!!!!!!!

  • @Firestarjude AMEN.

  • Wow, and this was so long ago!!

  • thats jumping, and almost flying! lets go back to this!!! that was real art!

  • I AGREE- bring back the real ballet!

  • her beats and italian fouettes are incredible!!

  • I love the double turn at the end of the Italian Fouette. She then continues to do more fouettes. Incredible!! I don't think I've seen anyone do quite this version!! I would love to see Zakharova or Guillem add the double turn on the fouettes.Or have they done this too?

  • never have I seen such a jump!!!! the whole variation was absolutely stunning!!!!

  • She dances this role like nobody does.Wonderful!!!

  • me encanta cada vez mas alla sisova que altura su salto es lo mas.asi se baila aprendieron desastres.

  • People have to get over equating high extension with being a great ballerina...while a high leg can be nice it's often used to hide a lack of artistic merit in my opinion..and more often than not it seems to distort the line of the choreography

  • The whole pas de deux had been on Youtube, but now only her solo. Would it be possible to post the rest of it?

  • What a fine ballerina for her time, she seems to have it all, such a joy to watch her dancing. Some of that charm is lost today in lots of principals in the most important companies. Very musical and secure. That gold era of the Kirov's is not known in the west until now. Thank you so much for sharing this clip, it is a masterpiece, even today.

  • Amazing jumps..she was a great dancer :)

  • She is absolutely amazing. Thank you for posting.

  • wowzers

  • wow! you never see jump like this anymore..! very beautiful!

  • Anymore? I've never seen anybody jump that high!! How does she do it?

  • Haha yeah you're right! She's amazing!!!

  • She may not have an extention up to her ears but she is SUCH a joy to watch.

  • holy crap! her jump is insane! shes so cute and tiny. i loved watching this

  • This is my all-time favorite ballet video. The grand jetes are huge, and every movement is a joy to see.

  • Actually honeybee and mrlopez are correct, this variation was originally danced by the Queen of the Dryads (not Dulcinea) in Don Quixote. However, as noted, it is indeed interpolated in Le Corsaire quite often.

  • well honey bee or w/e Don Q, Bayadere, Corsaire all swap and change and pretty much "borrow" solos from each other and some of the original versions this is in le corsaire. and if you were really smart you would know that they probably named it corsaire becaue the name of the solo is slow corsaire. DUHH!

    so you actually dont know

  • This isn't from Corsaire, it's Dulcinea's (Queen of the Dryads)variation from Don Quixote. I know because I learned it from the Don Quixote video.

  • this solo is danced like dq or le corsaire.

  • Amazing extension and elevation-- and such joy! Beautiful!

  • So clean, a real pleasure to watch.

  • wow that is really beautiful

  • This variation was added by Alexander Gorsky to his 1900 revival of Petipa's "Don Quixote" at the Bolshoi Theatre as a variation for the Dryad Queen. He later staged his version for the Imperial Ballet (Kirov) in 1903. For his 1900 revival, Anton Simon added new music, including this variation, which was later added to the so-called "Le Corsaire PDD" by Dudinskaya circa 1935 and thus danced by other Ballerinas when "variation swapping".

  • She is AMAZING!

  • vieron ese jete a la seconde asi se hace aprendan burras y ni hablar del fouette italiano conbinado con pirouettes alla sisova es lo mas hermoso del kirov aprendan burras

  • She is from two generations ago. Always overlooked but truly one of the great ballerinas. This was the most impressive performance I had seen. No wonder she was nicknamed "leaping Sizova"

  • Not overlooked by those who know Russian Ballet! This performance was her graduation performance. If you want to see her at her peak - get the video of her and Yuri Solovieve in Sleeping Beauty.

  • My teacher has this video cus he partnered her a couple times

  • Fucking Amazing!

  • I am so impressed she is way ahead of her time

  • ela voa, nos jetè's! :-O

  • nossa! esta variação é simples, porém ela a tornou incrível e tecnicamente perfeita!

  • she is amazing! Not even a man can jump so righ for a simple jete. Crazy!

  • Wla é divina! Nunca esqueci de sua interpretação em "Sleeping Beauty"!!!Fantastica!

  • This is not Corsaire. It is the variation from the Dream in Don Quixote. I know my ballet now! haaaa

  • If you know your Ballet so well you must know that in Russia some variations are used in different Ballets...

  • it was 1958 - the year when A.Sizova and R.Nureev graduated from Vaganova school.

  • omg... look at her go!

  • Actually, I have a version of Le Corsaire (Nureyev and Fonteyn) in which the slave pas de trois is actually just a pas de deux between the slave and medora... Anyway, in this version, Margot Fonteyn (medora) did this variation instead of the variation found in other versions, like ABT's... However, this variation is also the standard one seen in most versions of the Dream Sequence in Don Quixote.

  • Does anybody know what year this video is from..or atleast an estimate?

  • From 1958. It's the graduation performance from vaganova Ch.I of Rudolf Nureyev and Alla Sizova. They danced the Le Corsaire Pas de Deux. Sizova substituted the original variation for the The Dryad Queen Variation to the music of Anton Simon from Alexander Gorsky's 1900 revival of Petipa's Don Quixote.

  • This is not from Le Corsaire. It is the Queen of the Dryads variation from Don Quixote.
