@tartredarrow .408 is accurate and has enough power, I have a personal policy that the only firearm you should have that has a calibre that starts with a '4' is a .40 S&W Glock 23.

The .308 is a nice wround but never masses up to the .30-06 0r .303.

The .50 bmg can't fit into an assault rifle or pistol and the .223 is in my opinion too underpowered.

I guess this would be a usefull SHTF rifle, for hunting. Add a simple Weaver scope and you have a nice and simple package that doesn't weigh too much.

I wouldn't say it is the best for self defence but if I am in a tight bind I will take any thing that I can get my hands on. It would make a good hunting rifle depending on the game. The suppressor wouldn't scare off other game in the area.
