Even on campuses at UNL, minorites are told by the older classes of minorities whrere they should go and they do influence thier descion around the university. they do this so they can avoid as little racism as possible beacuse thier are places all over UNL campus that do not welcome the prescence of colored people. so they do this to avoid being talked about or to stop racial lies and rumors form spreading!!! However this does not prevent colors form being talked about on campus every day!!!

I do not know about Doane, But SCC and UNL both have instititonalized racism at both colleges. Minorites are always given the run around at college. they are told to send information for enrollment asking for things that do not exist. Acedemic transfers at SCC are given a hard time resciving information for transfer beacuse racist white councelors always give them the run around, misimforming them purposely!!

There are palces on UNL campus where black people people are harassed. the instructors would say if you don't have a class over there than you shouldn't be in that area or if you have no business there don't go over there, yet I see white people who jog, study, or talk to friends on those suppose areas on campus where they have no business being. yet they are never approached. a person of color cannot jog without being stopped at times. whites have campus rights colors do not have!!!

I even notice that light skinned black girls are treated better than ligth skinned black people(of black and white). I talked to lighted skin black girls and they say its not thier but i talk to darker tone black girls and the say they are always being descriminated against but the staff, even amoung student workers. light skin girls do not realize it beacuse they take the white privliges and norms of white girls. they are so self centered and conceited with it that they do not realize it!!

Personally I know UNL is racist because I had the liberty of talking to actual Professor's of UNL at two major churches hear in lincoln and they told me about the racism that goes on with staff and students. just this year tow lawsuits were filled and settled on the plantiffs behalf due to the racism she got working as staff member at UNL. These proffessors also told me this year their are places around campus you find where black people are racially talked about every single day!!!

to those people who say UNL is not racist, are you lightskinned black people or white people. if your white than you would probably have a hard time noticing. What are considered white privliges or white social norms on compus does not apply to be the norms of people of color. Of course the university are going to treat black athletes better, they are a money maker for the white culture. even Lebron James Coach thought he had ownership over Him!!!

The only african americans they respect are the athletes. If you dont play sports you are seen as of lesser value, and professors don't respect you.

OMG! This is so true. I was the only african american Biochemistry Major within the past 7 years! This man speaks pure truth. There were times were I was assigned grades much lower than my peers who I gave help to.. Those guys are biggots seriously! Message me if you want to speak more on this! As a african american male I got misadvised like crazy! It was hard being the only african american in every single course I took because many students are crazy racist there. Its so sad.

if unl is not racist why do they apoint white people to be obn the ballot for home coming and not ever let black people pettition for the ballot positions like a democracy. why has no black woman ever been on the ballot for homecoming?

To my understanding, its about black people being denied on a ballot.

I lived in South Africa many years during the apartheid era, and there was a whole nation bent on keeping blacks (aka 4th class citizens) suppressed.

It still surprises me, what South Africa did to change in such a short time, that America, "land of the free" is not as free as the consitution claims it to be.

Right now we have the Euro2008 soccer going on and you should see the "monkey chants" the fans make whenever a black guy has the ball.

I did not believe the black peoples claims of racism on campus either untill I attended school for six year saw for myself. I believe as an objective viewer who is not ever going to be a black female homecoming candidate my complaint carries some merrit. it was 1996 and to this goddamn day they still don't let black people on the ballot for homecoming at the university of nebraska at lincoln.the university of nebraska at omhaha has no greek system and no on campus housing, and two black people ran and won the king and queen spot and the earth did not open up and swallow any one.While I was therethey also had a cross burning frat party on some kids farm.

I went to Cameron University in Lawton, OK. They love diversity so much, they seem to think there isn't enough black people going there, so they started importing some from Africa and the Caribbean.
