  • Very nostalgic with all of the art work of the 60s and the 70s here in this video. Very interesting to see and remember what they could do in the world of advertising back then when I was just 5-6 years old. Love the footage of the Smothers Brothers too. I loved their show even though it was cancelled for their comments they made against our government. Thanks for posting this for us all to see.

  • This is from the 1969-70 season.

  • Flash frame of Lee Meriwether between 8 and 7 on the countdown? Who is that?

  • I wish I was an ad exec in the late 60s. You could be so creative and "outside the box" back then. I hope we get back to that again in my industry (advertising).

  • That smothers brothers promo must have taken quite some time to make, considering this was before the days of Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere...

  • Who's the woman who pops up at :05?

  • Don't know who the woman is but they use those images for color tests.

  • This is fantastic ! I have just been transported to the year of 1969 ! Brings back great memories of life and TV shows. I stil remember the song ! My best guess is it was performed by either The Cowsills or The Addrissi Brothers.

  • How did ABC make these bumpers back then? like the "In September" part, it looks like its been done with Adobe After Effects, but how was it done in the 1970s?

  • There was a world before Digital effects. All done with actual cameras, film, optical camera mattes, lens exposures, traditional animation. And add to that actual TRAINED people, who actually physically made something. Now it's just pull at a digital lever or adjust an option box settings. Really very sad,

  • The guy that sings "In September" sounds exactly like the vocalist that sang the opening theme to Nanny and the professer.

  • The Addrisi Brothers.

  • thanks swami

  • "LOVE AMERICAN STYLE", 'wicked', was a comedy anthology about love- and the many ways people found themselves in, or out, of it . Two or three different "stories" were seen during each hour, sprinkled with "blackout vignettes" featuring a regular cast (headed by Stuart Margolin).

  • "THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS SUMMER SHOW" briefly aired in the summer of 1970, the year after CBS cancelled their "COMEDY HOUR". The second promo was seen just before the 1969-'70 season premiered, spotlighting "ROOM 222", "LOVE AMERICAN STYLE" and "MOVIE OF THE WEEK", which became fixtures on the network for the next five years...
