It was so long ago I don't remember the year, but a bunch of us from high school went down to a local (Concord, CA) televised "dance-party" type show just to get on TV. The Golliwogs were the live band. They were wearing wierd Beatle wigs.
Best Golliwogs tune! I can see why they didn't release it as a single cause it has a bit of a sour tone compared to most of their other songs but god damn this rules!
Sounds like they were playing solid state amps like they did with Credence. . . tuck and roll Kustom amps. One of the only groups to get a personal lead sound from a solid state circuit. It really became part of the Credence sound. I am a tube amp guy as are most players.

Golliwogs had a hit break out in 1966 or so.."Brown eyed girl".. The rest is history..

The song was recorded in February 1966, but was never released until 2001.
The other song you mean is "Call It Pretending" from October 1967.
