I agree this is an important issue - I'd just like to note that some criticisms can be applied to both male and female circumcision. I don't think people should champion one and completely dismiss the other.

I have spoken to a female from Africa that was studying here in UK and though she had had it done and suffered as a child, she was in the process of taking her own daughter back there to have it done to her!! I was mortified and begged her to stay here and not go, but she told me that if she didnt go willingly,she wld b unable to ever visit it again :( and if she did,family wld grab the girl an do it without permission..so she HAS to..SO wrong :(

No it's a cultural thing and it's against Islamic teachings. Parents that go abroad to do it if found can be prosecuted after returning to most european countries.
