@loonah23 Does this mean that you and a weatherproof outer garment are inseparable, or that your spouse displays evidence of an OCD? (Don't worry - it's a rhetorical question.) Whichever, I hope that playing the song will prove to be therapeutic! Many thanks for commenting.
@Kittielips I don't do wrap - can't get my fingers pointing in enough different directions, innit? Mind you, if I get any more arthritic, I might have to try a hip 'op!
I actually get folks ringing me up: "You'll know - who sang ....?" Yes, I'm known as an anorak. This song cheered me up and gave me the perfect answer to my tormentors!
Hi Victor, good to hear from you again! I'm delighted to hear that my little song has done a bit of good. Many thanks for commenting, and every good wish for Christmas and the new year.
I'm with Chuck here....you write the most imaginative lyrics, Paddy....ones that always work beautifully. Add your wonderfully soulful vocals and precision playing, well it makes for some of the best music around. Five stars as always. :)
Coming from someone who is such a fine songwriter herself, Janet, these very kind comments mean a great deal to me and are much appreciated. I'm delighted that you enjoyed the song. Many thanks!
hi paddy. i know i've said it before, but it is still true. you must be the most imaginative writer i know. the inspiration for this one would have never found me. i really like how you used the noun as a bit of misdirection, giving clues, but not enough really to predict the true identity. you pulled the hood over us with this one, thank the stars numerically. be well, chuck. ps, the guitar effect works very well with this bit of whimsy.
Many thanks, Chuck: I 'm glad you enjoyed this one. 'Whimsy' is the perfect word to describe it. It was fun writing it, as it was a bit like constructing a old-fashioned riddle. I'm pleased that you liked the guitar effect; it was just silly enough, I thought, to sow doubts in people's minds about where the song might be going.
Many thanks for the stars, Jennie. You have to be quick these days, don't jersey? John and I both knew you'd be cross. He said, "This won't blazer!" I said, "Collar on the phone, and sweet-talk her round." He replied, "Noah Mantle be enough."
Clever song Paddy . You cant beat a good quality anorak up here in the Orkney Isles. At this time of year its your second skin! I like how you had me thinking that the song was about you up until the second last verse! Not that I would ever have thought you were an anorak. I guess there might be a little bit of an anorack in us all. I collect porcelain sheep!! (and proud of it) Have great christmas and new year
Many thanks, Dave! I can only imagine how glad you are of a good anorak in Orkney; I wouldn't be without mine down here in the balmy English midlands! Porcelain sheep sound great (I'm a big fan of "Shaun the Sheep" on CBBC!) Despite what the song says, I do collect stamps - along with old newspapers, playing cards and all sorts of other bits and pieces - so I am an anorak too!
Have a very happy Christmas and all the very best for 2010.
Hello Paddy, and oh goody! I've seen your new video and song before Jennie, she'll be sick as a parrot. I see you've gone electric for this one, and I won't hold it against you for not being a trekkie fan, because this is brill. 5***** John.
Hi John, good to hear from you, and many thanks for the enthusiastic comments! I like Star Trek, by the way - it's the anorak that hasn't seen it, as we don't have a telly in the cloakroom. I loved your latest duet with Jennie, by the way - I hope she's shown you my comment.
Oh dear. I am married to an Anorak. Thank you for explaining the phenomena. I think I might learn that song on my guitar for therapy.
