For me this is Korn's roots coming through. Despite the lack of heavy guitars, this has all the elements that make their music, dark sounding bass, the spooky style lead in the chorus, powerful as fuck vocals and the scatting. Oh and he says the word rape.

I do really like that Korn is scatting again, but it was rather dull with the Dubstep. That part should have been Skrillex'd or atleast a little heavier.
If you keep an open mind anything is possible. Korn and all of the dubstep aritists that contributed to this music really showed that anything is possible in the world of music

anyway, glad you're mature enough to give it another go. personally, i think it's a great album, and people who like dubstep, and people who like nu-metal (maybe not typical thras, or death metal,) should definitely give it a go. more than once. (i thought it was substandard at first too.)

Davis always knows the right vocal tones to use, even when they'd sound ridiculous out of the context of the song. This album sounds like the sequel to Untouchables. I like it.

I always thought Excision, Datsik and Downlinks heavy dark Dubstep would go perfect with some Korn Deathmetal. I'm really hoping that Excision does a album with Dimmu Borgir some time! :D

1: The scatting is back! Wasn't that one of the things that made fall in love with Jons voice?
2: Korn have tried a lot of things. I didn't see shit of bitching when they teamed up with Ice Cube and all the other rappers. They have the ability to never fuck up their music, no matter what they do.
"Hard-core" metal fans can be really childish sometimes, claiming their genre is better than any other music genre.

@TomPriceism pioneering? pioneering? skrillex, borgore and several other producers have been mashing up metal with dubstep REAL dubstep and REAL metal for years, i used to respect korn, but they ended up being a bunch of posers, they only got into dubstep when skrillex made it USA mainstream, they think it's what's going to pull korn out of its grave, justin bieber, korn, they're the same.

@gaspar30 actually, if you got your facts straight, you'd know that JD has been interested in dubstep for years, he started on this album in early 2010, thats before "my name is skrillex" and the difference here is this isn't a mash up, this is a song in it's own right,
and think of it this way, they got some of your favorite dubstep producers to work on this album with them, they must be doing something right,

@TomPriceism 1. wrong, skrillex was mainstream since 2009, don't try to argue with me about dubstep, besides, every single track that korn released claiming that contains dubstep, guess who is either producing or featuring? that's right, skrillex. and guess what? they don't have joker, skream, or zedd, those are real dubstep producers, but you're right, i should give this one a chance, for the sake of music.

@gaspar30 I only went on wikipedia to check when "my name is skrillex" came out, so yeah could be wrong about that, and i'm more of a dub-step appreciator than a fan as such, and is that thing about skrillex producing all the tracks really true? that seems a bit weird considering they had a different dubstep producer on each track, not calling you a liar, just wondering if you got the facts from a reliable source is all,
but then again... that doesn't surprise me as he probably knows...

@gaspar30 the most about the metal half of this album (considering he used to be in "from first to last" and is a big korn fan) so whether your source is reliable or not, it's still a logical assumption,
anyway, glad you're mature enough to give it another go. personally, i think it's a great album, and people who like dubstep, and people who like nu-metal (maybe not typical thras, or death metal,) should definitely give it a go. more than once. (i thought it was substandard at first too.)

Davis always knows the right vocal tones to use, even when they'd sound ridiculous out of the context of the song. This album sounds like the sequel to Untouchables. I like it.

i love metal and dubstep. and 7 ppl who dislike this is not musicaly mature. to be musicaly mature is to love any music from orchestral to dubstep and everything in the middle. its all art some of it is better then other songs. i hate it when korn fans think its gonna stay the same forever. true fans evolve with the music. i personally wanna hear a motzart song with some dubstep. it would be pretty awesome. lol
