As in any war at any time no people were perfect. To me it seems Phillipines has always had other countries pillaging and ruining it. I read somewhere that at one time it could have been the most powerful Asian country. But with over 100 dialects and many communities it seems there is too much seperation for it to ever work as one. I hope that the Phillipines could someday sort out a fair system of government. This would be a good start.

A US citizen cannot be charged for rape nor murder in the Philippines (as you were able to read in the newspapers, these past months, when a Filipina was raped by an american in the Phils) It's still as if we're a colony. Yes, vietnamese did kicked yankees butt but they were not alone in the battle. they have china and russia on the back drop. the filipinos fought their lone and bitter war against the u.s. and take note, they had just fought another superpower (spain) before that.

However this is irrelevant because the NVA did break the will of the americans and support for the war was lost. Thats how they won the war by breaking the will of their opponents. Ha ha ha, that is funny. I find it ironic that most people that opposes the war back then does taht on moral grounds rather than practical military matters. The U.S. faced in the Philipines the first major guerrilla war in its history. I also like how the media that initially supported colonial expansion saw first the complications and opposed its continuation. The terrible victory there left a bitter taste on the now expanded American Empire, but soon forgot it didn't we.

Thank you for the forgotten war. Our first Vietnam. People have stated that the US spent more than it was worth. What it was worth was the people who are still exploited world wide. They came to America to break the Black American railroad strike and became pullmans then farm laborers, now America's health care systerm is domonated by Filipinos. God Bless them.
