  • Thank you. I knew better than to try to explain timelessness to the other poster. You get it.

  • Nice to see, but the ragtime was totally out of place- made it look like a silent '20's movie...You should have used some motown, maybe some doo-wop, and maybe some lovin spoonfull- now that was my 60's!

  • Good point! But where do you start with the 60's? ALL the music was phenomenal. That's like picking "the best Beatles song". Can't do it.

  • These are children of color my man: "chilluns". Motown works, Beatles would be "ofay"....."standing in the shadows of love" would be spot on,right on!....lose the scott joplin noise

  • Interesting, that this "street" may have inspired the "Street." I love this. Nice piece of music. Also I liked the Fishbowl bus at the beginning, until recently we had them in Montreal. And they had a "play street"? Is that done anywhere anymore? Seems progressive.

  • I don't think they do these anymore, but I haven't checked to find out. The Sixties were the real time of idealism. I have to hand it to Silent Generation and the Boomers. They actually tried things. Generation X is another story. I get sad sometimes wishing we would stand for something. :(

  • It seems progressive, especially for an era when many parts of North America were becoming more "auto-centric," sometimes to the point of being ridiculous (in some cases, bridges no longer having their capacity measured in people but in automobiles, so anything non-auto like light rail was yanked). I liked the "Play Street" sign held at the end...seems like a name for another show! *laughs*

  • You know what? It does!

  • There's still some play streets left in NYC. Some are associated with school recess, and others last all day.

  • I'd love to take a 16mm camera to one of them. I hope play streets continue to exist for as long as children do.

  • Very nice film. :) I liked the classic sounding music in it. And I like the fire hydrant scenes. I heard that some places allow hydrants to be opened so that kids can keep cool on hot days.

  • They did that sometimes in Jersey and New York back in the old days. My family left there in about 1971, so I don't know if that continued after we left.

  • Thanks guys. I was born in an area a lot like is shown in this film, and your comments mean a lot to me.

  • you're awesome. :)

  • Thank you too, Tubricant. Thank you so much. :*)

  • Holy smoke...the streets behind the Street. Bravo for this little piece of history!

  • Thank you, IS... fondly. :*)
