RE: Ringo having more #1 hits... There is some correlation between people who have #1 hits being extremely disproportionate to song writers who write albums. e.g. Walkin' on Sunshine and all of Ringo's post Beatle stuff...it's because they are only writing a formula FOR A HIT !!! Quite a few #1 hits are from people who have not written a prolific amount of work.
