It's hard to think of a way Rampage could've won this fight by DEC if they wouldn't even give him round 1. He almost finished the fight! Forrest was hanging on for dear life, and 2 or the 3 judges gave the round to Griffin.

When it's possible to say "If you want some one to lose, make them fight Lyoto", and the person you mention isn't champ, there's a problem.

Machida is a decision fighter, he'll never be a huge money maker. Alot of people might not like his fighting style but no one can doubt its effectiveness.

Dana is always going to struggle with matching up machida in any main event because, if/when he does win, all his title fights will "suck" for LHW from then until machida loses.

Wandy will likely never fight Shogun, and maybe Anderson Silva. But to think he wouldn't fight Griffin, because he's been training at Xtreme Couture for a couple months is not in my realm of "reality."

Wandy may work with Forrest, but if he was given the chance at the title, he'd do to Griffin exactly what he did to Jardine. Hell, if the rules permitted, he'd do to Griffin, what he did to Kondo.

I hate the fact that this sport has yet to reach the point where money isn't the main factor for matching fights. Hopefully it will rise to that level, so we can make sure that fighters who deserve a shot at the title get it. Lyoto is often regarded as "boring" and your right, he will not get a title shot soon, even though he really deserves it with his undefeated record.

No one is forgetting Shogun. But he has to win. He is VERY injured and lost his only fight and had to pull out of the Liddell fight. If he wins 2 times, he'll be in the picture. But he has to win.

dana whites plan was to keep rampage champion. which is why rampage has only fought twice in a year and a half. dana fed him lesser fighters to keep him champ. the longer a champ holds the belt the better it is for business. but danas plan backfired. forrest won much to the disappointment of dana white.

dan henderson's natural weight class is welterweight, to go up two weight classes is hard enough but then on top of that to fight a powerful puncher is just insurmountable. henderson is a great welterweight and middleweight but to have to fight the light heavyweight champ is just really over reaching. and dana knew it, thats why he set it up. thats why when rampage was champ he never would have had him fought shogun or silva which is what so many fans wanted. dana wants long term champions.

I have to respectfully disagree. Dana's plan is always to put the belt around Chuck Liddell. But now, the talent level at the 205 weight class is CRAZY! No "easy fights." Dana is GLAD Forrest won. Forrest is more known by casual fans then Rampage by a long shot. Just look to the poll they had on fight night. 53% of voters thought Forrest would win? Huh? Forrest was the HEAVY underdog for bets and no "educated fanatic" would put smart money on Forrest. And as for Henderson being "lesser?" Geez.

Definitely can't argue with that. But the level of competition does vary depending on who the champion is and the weight class.

Like, when Chuck was Champ, the LHW division was pretty thin on talent. So thin, they had to get Randy to come down in weight to create a big money fight. Chuck fought Babalu 2x, and Tito 2x's. lol. They tried to sell us 3 Tito vs. Shamrock matches. lol

Great vid, would have to agree with alot of what you said, money does drive the UFC to not give certain guys shots at the title picture, perfect example, Jon Fitch. Whatever is the biggest draw for the UFC will always take precedent to who is on a win streak in any division. Its not politically correct, nor do I agree with it, but thats how the UFC matchmaking (joe silva/dana white) sets up the fights. Great vid once again.
