I see Glen then when he was young but I cannot stop thinking of him as the drunk has been who Tanya Tucker called...."the horniest man ever'.......yuck I wanna go wash up
For many years before I saw a picture of Bobbie Gentry,I thought she was African-American because of her husky voice.I mean absolutely nothing racist or stereotypical by that remark, but I'm just saying.
I was a toddler when this came out, so I can't claim to remember it, but there's just something about this song and the period, the late 60's, that i have vague recollections of, and hearing this song makes me wish i could go visit that period again, perhaps this time more cognizant of everything going on around me. I loved the innocence and feeling of change that was in the air back then. I wish i could partake of it.
@ley68 do u think tom jones did the originl/ green green grass of home too ? even english singers gave an awkward shot at county. an aussie named keith urban is the biggest success tho. regards
@tommieparch Hahaha, both are good Roger Miller songs if I remember correctly. His version of Green Green Grass of Home is quite interesting (aka country) if the first you heard was the Jones boy. I still think that Miller does a better version of this though... there's a bit more futility and pain in his voice.
@ArgentumNZ i knew green grass was writen in the u.s. & it was a country song...what i meant was tom jones had the biggest crossover hit in my opinion...regards tommy (roger miller, king of the road is a damn great tune)
My mom has the exact album from Bobbie Gentry and Glen Campbell that was on this video. We played it back around 1975 in San Jose California. I was only 5 or 6 years old when we listened to this album.
Bobbie Gentry would look great in a 70 Dodge Charger.

I prefer the duet of Tammy Wynette and Dave Houston singing this.

this song has so many memories, my old man came back from goose bay in canada, but also took him and the crew to an airbase in omaha.
and he brought this album back from over the pond and even to this day i still love this song by two sup[erb artists, and i'm a rock guitarist.
