  • shai my hulud ;]

  • Good luck they might never release anything new

  • I'm a Death Metal/Hip Hop enthusiast and I normally hate punk/metalcore bands (not to label this one) but Shai Hulud has really caught me off guard. I looked them up because I heard this song on Saints Row: The Third (106.66 The Blood) and was blown away. I love the progessive elements and attitude that these guys bring to the table as well as having substance in thier music. I'm a new fan, but will definately be buying material from these guys in the future.

  • one of the best songs from saints row the third

  • Best hardcore of the era.

  • shitty

  • the music is actually pretty good, just needs a new singer..he sounds like every other hack that's been pulled from the streets

  • @slamdtruck Agreed. Their old singer Geert needs to come back. That dude ruled hard, go check out some of their old stuff like "Set Your Body Ablaze" or anything off of That Within The Blood Ill-Tempered.

  • @killxthexdogs lol i can't win with these guys. i just checked out set your body ablaze, and that singer, was really good, i liked him a lot, knew where to put in vocal hooks unlike their new singer... but the music sounded sloppy... this band needs to play like this, and get their old singer to throwdown on this music.. then this would actually be a band i'd be a huge fan of

  • The best misanthropical song there is.

  • Mallcore band. Message is supposed to be tough, comes around as weak and fake...this is as hardcore as justin bieber's ass...

  • @draganov What're you, 8? Shai Hulud is the epitome of hardcore, so get fucked. Drop out of hardcore now, we don't fucking need you because you don't fucking get it.

  • @draganov Total mallcore, the guitarist was the former singer for new found glory, a radiocore band, I saw these guys in a 300 person venue In Tucson AZ called Skrappy's in 2003. with Blood Has Been Shed (Howard) pre Killswitch and Unearth. They were gay but the others were awesome, actually Unearth's drummer had a car accident in Texas so they didn't get to play, That was too bad.

  • @fatguyaaron lol these guys have been around a lot longer than mallcore

  • @StupidVideosDotComCo No, they are totally mallcore, they were mallcore when I saw them in like 2003 with Blood has been shed and Unearth in a 400 squarefoot room, they were mallcore back then and mallcore still today

  • Every word of this song has kept me pushing forward since the spring of '08, my junior year of high school. This song was as beautiful to me as it was powerful. Shai Hulud recruited me with this song, in all honesty. And I'm glad it did. It set the bar for what I'm doing as a musician. I don't care when the world rests on my shoulders. I will push through.

  • @sjfan1 Thank you for letting me know i'm not alone, stranger.

  • UNDERSTAND: HARDCORE IT'S A CONTRACT FOR LIFE!

  • no one speak one negative word about this band. they are by far one of the most real hardcore bands of all time. Melodic and brutal as fuck. with no inhales or slow breakdowns. lyrics are so true and passionate. learn the message, learn the band. and i promise you, you wont be dissapointed

  • @Brutalniceguy214 good fucking message and i completely agree with you. but i can do some cool inhales. but besides that fuck yeah man

  • awesome hardcore..... nuff said.

  • greatest hardcore band.

  • I notice more melody in their music than metal. I've always said Shai Hulud was the birth of melodic hardcore, but to each his own.

  • Could u guys pls stfu about genres and just listen to this awesome Music?

  • they were great live!

  • this is new-school-hardcore, this is real hardcore, like matt fox said!!!! metalcore-new genre-kids buy it. STAY TRUE!!!!!!!!

  • @disappiontment this isnt "new school hardcore" what are you even talking about?. Shai Hulud has been around for a long time man. they were making sick music before all the dumb kids jumped on the bandwagon of "metalcore"

  • Why the fuck is Youtube suggesting Whitechapel to me for watching a Shai Hulud video?

  • @krncky because this is a metal blade records video and both are metal blade bands

  • @PostHxCROX93 Gotcha. I guess I am pretty behind on who is with what label.

  • I was just now randomly checking through metalcore bands to find one good one I haven't heard of yet. I found this video and the words and the intro just hit me in the face with the simple awesomeness. Now I'm just gonna go and find all the songs from Shai Hulud and listen to all of them :D

  • Shai hulud, has been around the block. They were part of the scene before it was invented. much respect for this band.

  • u should suck a dick

  • Is that the singer from Alien Ant Farm?

  • 23 idiots dont know the character well...

  • @picoyzorra13 not funny stfu

  • this song is awesome ... who ever doesn't like this song doesn't really understand much lol

  • i just found these guys and i love the feel their music has to it i love them any song suggestions?

  • These guys truly are fucking gods. I saw them YEARS ago with Misery Signals. its funny MS said that SH was one of their biggest influences and SH opened up for MS lol

  • Sounds like a progressive version of Terror, i like it

  • @Lasterious i don't think so

  • 21 kids didn't think this had enough crab dancing to be hardcore. Mental retardation is a sad thing :(

  • so this was that shitty song on that cd i used to have

  • This is fucking beast.

  • ich find das so geil ! =)

    greetz~

  • @Egnired

  • wow this sucks

  • wow people r going crazy trying to tell their meanings...

i simply dont like this song

  • That's fuckin good. First time listening to this band and my mind is blowed. I'm addicted.

  • ehh.....there is too much meaning in the songs for me...

  • @ryshuko7 What the hell is that supposed to mean? You want your music to be shallow, without depth?

  • Haha what the fuck is 'metallic hardcore'?! People need to shut the fuck up before making themselves look like idiots.

  • @matthewxbrown It's what they called hardcore with metal influences before metalcore was even an actual genre. You're the one making yourself look dumb.

  • @ultrahero2115 Just by saying that it shows how little you understand, hardcore is always hardcore no matter what influences the music. Don't give me this metallic shit, yeah it may describe the music but it sure as hell isn't a genre. You have NO idea what you're talking about.

  • @matthewxbrown But tons of people accept it as one. :P

  • @ultrahero2115 Dude stop ripping on every comment here...it's pretty pathetic. You have no clue what you're saying and 'tons of people accept it as one' is an invalid and narrow minded reply.

  • @matthewxbrown Dude. It's the truth. I consider bands like Terror, Thick As Blood, Comeback Kid, and This Is Hell hardcore. I consider groups like Before There Was Rosalyn, August Burns Red, and Reflux metalcore, because the sounds are clearly very different. There is also no rule that says "hardcore is always hardcore no matter what influences the music." And the whole reason I said you're making yourself look dumb in the first place is because you were calling someone an idiot for no reason.

  • @matthewxbrown Since the 2000's started metalcore has been considered a legit (though sometimes less than credible) genre. Accept it. Thousands of fans, reviewers, and the like use the term. Also, I'm not ripping comments, I'm defending this amazing band. I don't see how a person could say that there's something wrong with them.

  • @ultrahero2115 Wow stop putting words in my mouth, I never said there wasn't such thing as metalcore, and I never said there was anything wrong with Shai Hulud. They are one of my favorite bands and have been for a while now.

  • @matthewxbrown Whatever, man. :P Let's both be done with this. K? We just wasted a whole bunch of time.

  • yea Mattfoxshulud and Mardgn81 i agree, this is one of the most original bands and their song compositions are amazing, most people dont know what they are even listening to..so they wouldnt like shai hulud.

  • this band fucking sucks now...profound hatread of man is there best album

  • @Hooklineansinker

a profound hatred of man is an EP

    idiot

  • Gotta like the name. Love DUNE man.

  • symphonic hardcore ! yeahh !!

  • this is fuckin heavy metal not disney sing alongs lmao

  • This is isn't fucking metal it's just rubbish.

  • First time hearing this band, and I love it. The music (especially the drums) is so dynamic yet methodical at the same time. good shit.

  • wikipedia shai hulud and read the bit about genres and it will answer all your questions.

  • i cant believe metal blade signed these guys

  • Awesome band, i really do wonder why Roadrunner still keeps winning best metal label above Metalblade and Nuclear Blast :S I dont have anything against them but they have a seriously dwindled line from what they used to where as MB and NB just keep signing amazing metal bands :D

  • this is what metalcore should have been

not the mallcore shit we see now

  • This isn't metalcore. It's post-hardcore.

  • Mate this is metallic Hardcore

  • Who cares? IThey aimed for hardcore and made it a little bit different. They call it progressive hardcore/post-hardcore/metallic hardcore (never heard that one before). They aimed for hardcore but made it heavier. Leave it at that.

  • wats with all the cores? posy hardcore? metallic hardcore? wtf?

  • I was just naming the things other people were calling them. I'm saying they are just hardcore. I honestly never heard of metallic hardcore.

  • Or people can stop will all the stupid bullshit titles on bands for what style it is. Just like or dislike the band for how they sound

  • thank you, i echo your setiment whole-heartedly

  • i hate how people sub genre everytype of music like post hardcore hardcore death core its all basicly the same damn thing

  • @markhines88488 Not really. They are very different, but I completely sympathize with you. There's too much classication going on and judgement based on those classifications and not enough of just listening to the damn music.

  • shush.

  • GTFO!!!!

  • This is awsome.

  • they sound a bit like a band with a singer who cant metal scream, but it sounds very good and fresh!

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @BrainSeepsOut He doesn't want to scream like that. It's a hardcore yell, which is perfectly good.

  • @ultrahero2115

I know (now), and i LOVE it.

  • Shai Hulud is fuckin amazing.

Seeing em in august w/ Elysia and Full Blown Chaos

  • sounds like a killer show

  • im not into their new vocals either.

go ahead and spam this shit.

  • great fucking name!!! i love the Dune series, and good to see a band bearing the name Shai Hulud is actually good

  • haha owned!

don't delete my comments, scene faggot!

  • haha

dont block me from adding comments!

  • what? you're not, why i should even bother?

  • haha, now you unblock me

  • yeah right ¬¬ and why the fuck you keep deleting my comments and the comments from

    MysticalMassacre33?

  • @XxTheSheepxX GTFO

  • You guys know nothing about Shai Hulud, just becuase you hear ONE song, you think you know everything about the band. Listen to hearts once nourished with hope and compassion or that within blood ill-tempered and you will know what shai hulud really is. Scene fags just simply can't not talk here, this is not a trendy emo metalcore band, this is REAL hardcore with progressive metal influences.

  • true that!

  • @mattfoxshulud

i fucking agree! cheers from Chile, Southamerica!

  • @mattfoxshulud good words

  • @mattfoxshulud I agree with everything you just said, and I really love this band. But what if you look Scene-ish and still like the music? Btw, I hate no talent, no depth, stupid, breakdowncore, bands that pollute music these days.

  • This band was one of the first metalcore bands around. They were doing this long before metalcore was even a genre. They don't claim to be a metal band, because they're more hardcore than metal. And just because they're not soloing constantly doesn't mean that they're not good musicians. Their is a lot of texture and though that goes into every chord they play. And for the record, Zakk Wylde may be the biggest waste of a good guitarist ever.

  • @mardgn81 zakk wylde a waste? i like everything he has done by now :p

    and this band rocks

  • @mardgn81 Well... I thought his solo album Book of Shadows was softly badass... He put more than his soul in that album. Literally awesome. But his black label stuff is iffy to me. So I get your perspective.

  • @mardgn81 that last sentence was uncalled for. Just because you have some conflict with metal, don't talk shit down to it if you don't want to the same done on "hardcore" videos. Zakk Wylde is a great guitarist, by no means a waste.

  • Sucks for you. This band's not really into playing guitar solos. When I saw them in 2006 they had a shirt that said something like "more ideas, than solos" on the back.

  • Shai Hulud is an amazing band. The vocals along with these lyrics give me absolute chills.

Also, this is metalcore at it's absolute finest. "As a result of their talent their sound and their riffing is very inaccessible, unless you take your time and listen to the music more often."

    I agree 100%.

  • coming from a girl who likes Escape The Fate

  • The only good part of the song was at the end when the vocalist stopped singing.

  • Godspeed Shai Hulud.

    Godspeed.

  • cant get enough of this band, ever since i saw them on headbangers ball last night im hooked. man these guys kick ass

  • its different. i like it. change is always good.

  • When you listen to it for the second time, the music just gets better and better. First time i didn't get their style, but i then realised how immense it is! VERY unique styling, i shall certainly be looking for more of their albums. Any suggestions of which ones are their best?

    Any replies are welcomed

  • They are all great. 'That within blood ill-tempered' is my personal fave tho.

  • Thanks, i will check it out. Here, have the letter 'm' for your troubles...it's free

  • same here. im not sure about what ones are the best but damn im looking some up lol

  • Hearts Once Nourished is their best album.

  • Oh you're sooooooo cool for saying that. You seem so 1337 now. I wish I was like you.

  • I can't decide on which one's the best. They're all so good! They progress more and more musically and lyrically on every record that they do so it's hard to decide on which one's their best. My personal favorite is "Hearts Once Nourished With Hope and Compassion" though.

  • Some of you people are very very stupid and ignorant.

  • nigger music..

  • wow, they really give me a fresh feeling of hardcore, not familiar with this band, though.

  • Shai Hulud Forever!

  • I love the raw vocals and the lyrics are profound.

  • roflmao shai hulud has 13 years developing its sound, and that's why they are so big on the true hardcore scene.

    >Sounds like Mediocre Metalcore.

You are listening to too much metalcore.

    >Sorry, sounds way too generic.

I bet this is the first time you hear Shai Hulud.

    >XxTheSheepxX

    Are you deaf?

    >the song would be better if the vocalist was replaced

    Yeah, we all miss Gert.

  • 100 percent agreed

  • What do you mean?

Yeah, this is the first time I hear them.

  • hmmm the guitar sounds a lot different than most bands. its def not playing downbeat minor stuff. kinda reminds me a wee bit of underoath

  • the lyrics are awesome...

um...the song would be better if the vocalist was replaced...

  • laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame

  • Sounds like Mediocre Metalcore.

  • hmmm....its like a metalish band with a hardcore vocal....i like it

  • Sorry, sounds way too generic.

  • super song

    best from their album

  • metal will never die ..Amen

  • reminds me of Underoath.

  • Their earlier stuff was way better than this shit. It sounds like fucking Hatebreed.

  • NIGGER MUSIC

  • I don't like the voice... it doesn't change

  • I don't know. I think it's kinda cool.

  • band sounds ok,singer...loose him!

  • there not that good

  • sounds like a bad version of hatebreed

  • WTF is this? Happiest fucking riff you could think of and with angry-as-hell screams? This is just pure epic fail...

  • @wolvie90 They don't have to conform to the sound YOU think is ideal. It's called being dynamic. What's wrong with contrast anyway? Just because his yells are harsh and the riffs are groovy and slightly bright doesn't mean they don't fit. You're being narrow-minded.

  • what dose Metal Blade Records thinking? O_O this sucks!

  • @TheKisura Why does it suck?! D: Do you have any musical inclination to speak of?

  • Vocals dont really fit with the music.

  • @Xurek No particular vocals have to fit a particular sound and vice versa. I mean Chino of Deftones sings over heavy as fuck, Meshuggah-esque chugs and it's beautiful.

  • Metalcore :)

  • What would you call this, hardcore punk or something?

  • they were one of the first "metalcore" bands, but their music isn't what you would think of when metalcore nowadays

  • good i think

  • good song:)

  • Cool!

  • sounds nice ^^
