This is a joke. It sounds ridiculous and crazy, becuase Hurley's talking to someone who has not seen for herself what the island can do. Lost is highly allegorical, and it uses *ridiculous* and *crazy* plot directions in order to support the allegory.
@hellswinter If it is an allegory, I'd like to know what for.. Because it just seems like the writers threw in a bunch of crazy ideas.. Genetically altered polar bears, smoke monsters, dharma scientific experiments, others, magic number sequences, everyone showing up in everyone's past, time traveling, visions.. wtf is it an allegory for?
@amorinternacional1 Collective consciousness; the sub-personal/super human spiritual connection between all living beings; conscience — the 'light' within us; the futility of attempting to scientifically understand human potential, the perception of time, our place in the world, etc.. And, of course, some shit is simply done to make it entertaining and exciting.
