I break out every time I eat in restaurants. If I eat out about three times in about 3-4 days, I will break out without fail... but I am fine eating spinach, sea food, and seaweed almost on a daily basis...
i have been using fucicort cream on my rashes, it cures miraculously but then then rashes flares up again, and even on a regular routine, for instance, every week. I have stopped using the fucicort cream after you said that it can cause the skin to become thinner, what should I do to stop the routine breakout?
The American Institute Of Advanced Medicine can help! They have over 25 years experience and over 90% success rate for a varity for skin disorders including cystic acne check out theaiam.com their protocols really work!!
Their medication is FDA approved with no side effects! ** Not a scam!
one question, how about masturbation, or sexual intercourse? can they cause acne? i notice that if i dont take part in masturbation or sexual intercourse i clear up rather well, yet, when i masturbate or take part in sexual intercourse i notice i break out shortly after. Ill notice a new pimple right after im finished, or a couple days after.
last year i used mycolog-which is a cortisonecream-to get rid of acne due to oil-containing makeup;I kept on using it for months om my whole face. after i had searched on the internet what mycol ogcontained i stopped using it, since i knew that cortisone is not healthy to use for a long period of time. The problem is that now i break out all the time,i have a great amount of white heads and i tried every thing to get rid of them.I'm now 20 and i never had acne before.
it sucked taking doxycycline 2x every day for a month and not really helping. my acne however healed up due to other reasons (time). my skin is now generally pimple free, only left with severe hyperpigmentation. so he prescribed me minocycline. but after taking it for only 3 days, i stopped. it was inconvenient and I felt sick and nauseated every time after taking it. i am also discouraged to take it because i have no more pimples now, but i know they are going to come back. what should i do?
i try hard not to pop pimples, but sometimes when I get a large pimple, and it comes to a yellow head, the head grows so large it's basically just a head and it becomes the size of a large pimple. and then it seems to never go away by itself within a reasonable time frame. so when i need to go out, it's so nasty and noticeable, i just have to squeeze it. what should i do?
Unlike traditional treatments such as CO2 Lasers or Dermabrasion that remove the entire surface layers of the skin at one time, leaving it red and raw; the Fraxel will target up to only 30% of the skin at one time. This allows the laser to aggressively target and remove acne scaring while also preventing downtime for several days or weeks.
I have a weird brand of acne. It's certainly not severe as some people I've seen but it's so consistent. I am 24 now and breakouts are just apart of my life. I get them on the face and chest. This makes me wonder if I have some sort of bacteria living inside of me that's causing this to happen?
What causes pimples? What I mean is, not white heads and comedones or larger spots that go away; I mean tiny pimples that just wont go away. My skin isnt oily, its dry, but I get these tiny pimples on my forehead and, sometimes, cheeks near the nose. I have been using a cream with clendamycin (sp?) and benzoyl peroxide (sp?), which initially helped, but now they're sort of coming back..its annoying! What is it? thanks :-)
i was on accutane but i finished a year ago. about two months after accutane my acne came back and is aggressive as before, is there anything i can do seeing as the toughest pill wont beat my acne?
@LydiaxLOSERFACE I took Accutane for the full five month period, and shortly after my acne came back in full force. After waiting about 6-months (yikes!) I talked to my dermatologist again and we tried another round. About three months into my second round my acne seemed to clear up within nearly two weeks time and hasn't been back since. I suggest you talk with your doctor about trying Accutane again if it is an option for you.
I only eat seafood and lots of it. I have sushi twice or more a week so I'm always eating fish and seaweed. I also have really bad almost severe acne. I wonder if the two relate?
iodine causes acne? really now? then why did the japanese who eat seaweed and seafood on a daily bases not get acne until america introduced refined foods into their diet?
@alstan25 A complex issue with a small amount of evidence suggesting that refined sugar products in Japanese may be related to an increase in the occurrence of acne. But most studies don’t support a causal relationship which is further complicated by genetics that definitely do play a role and certainly pre-exist the introduction of the refined sugar foods. While the Japanese diet does include a large amount of iodine, true excess iodine causes certain thyroid diseases that don’t seem to be...
@alstan25 increased in the Japanese population. So there are many inconsistencies here. The following study from 2003 published in the Journal of Japanese Cosmetic Science Society did not attach any importance to the issues we are discussing. Abstract: An epidemiological study of acne vulgaris for the 793 students, which consist of 64 of the sixth grade of the elementary school, 120 of the junior high school, 120 of the high school and 489 of the nursing or medical school students...
@alstan25 ...was performed by questionnaire. Of 793 students, 315 were male and 478 were female, and their ages ranged from 11-12 years-old to twenties. This acne study revealed that 58.6% of the students (male: 45.7%,female: 67.2%) were suffered from acne vulgaris, and that the average onset was 13.3 years of age, acne lesions appeared on the forehead first and later developed on the cheek and jaw...
@alstan25 It was also demonstrated that 93.3% of the nursing or medical school students (male: 92.8%,female: 93.9%) were suffered or had been suffered from acne vulgaris, that is 92-94% of Japanese young people after 18 years-old had the acne history. They were impressed that insufficient sleep, oily skin and frequent make-up made worse their acne lesions. In order to treat their acne, 38.1% of them got the OCT topical agents through the drug stores, and only 11.8% of them visited doctors.
They have done studies that show a relationship between dairy foods and acne. I myself stopped eating dairy and my back acne cleared up, so i think it has more to do with diet than we think. But i do agree with everything else he said.
@parisgala Removing those spots requires strict use of sunscreen, exfoliants, and bleaches. For more information, search YouTube for the DermTV episode titled, "How to Remove Brown Spots".
i have what i think are acne scars but they are just black/brown spots that appear when my acne is starting to leave, (i pick my acne) so what do you think could help remove my brown spots
Dr. Schultz, I heard that dermatologists will put their new patients on milder antibiotics and wait to use accutane as a last resort. What if the patient wants accutane right off the bat, since like you said, it gets rid of the oil 100%. I know there are negative side effects with using accutane, but it is common for patients to come in requesting accutane and getting it right away, instead of wasting money on other things that may not work as well? That's what I would do if I went to a derm.
@MaicoMoon: FDA guidelines for use of Accutane in the USA requires failure of treatment with several antibiotics before Accutane is prescribed for treatment of acne. Using Accutane as a first treatment is in fact "off label use."
Iodine causes acne.. like in thyroid pills? I'm on thyroid pills but just to control thyroid, I never knew that it caused acne? .. I do breakout here and there but never saw a correlation..
hey doc, im guy and im trying to find ways to reduce or get rid of my acne blackheads and oily skin. ive been drinking plenty of water and eating healthy foods. any tips?
@MaliBilly: Water and eating is good, but you'll need to do more than that to control your acne. For information on acne treatment, check out DermTV episode #124, "Acne Treatment in Three Easy Steps." I'd paste the link here but YouTube doesn't allow it. That being said, just enter the title of the episode into the YouTube search and it should be the first result. I hope it helps!
