  • cant wait will most def get 1

  • very cooll !!!

  • No Land Rover, don't do it! The current design Defender is an iconic, tried and tested world beating classic.... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" This is just a marketing ploy for the Chelsea tractor brigade, Keep the Defender as it is, let the style conscious types carry on buying Freelanders and Discoveries instead.

  • una autentica cagada de coche. ¿que va a ser del todoterreno puro? una pena.

  • It has to be said, the current one just looks better, and without a doubt the new one will not be as rugged or as good off-road, especially wth independent suspension all round. You can tell what it's really intended for from the cameras set into the wing mirrors. Anyone who has ever been off-roading knows that you do not want expensive wing mirrors because they get broken off!

  • I think it looks cool, but it just dosent cut it as a defender. The current defender is utilitarian and rugged this looks like a posing machine! Im from New Zealand and theres a few old defenders on farms here but most farmers drive hilux's, Navara's and i cant see them trading in there much loved utes for a swanky looking land rover. My geuss is it will rival the jeep renegade/wrangler and be used more on road than off road...well thats at least how it is in NZ

  • @NickSullivan123 Also from NZ, and agree! However, a Wrangler which still has a ladder chassis and beam axles will be much more capable than this "Defender". Land Rover should follow Jeep's lead and redesign the Defender with a ladder chassis, beam axles, and the aesthetics as untouched as possible, then just add the necessary safety and comfort features to broaden it's appeal. That is what people will respond to.

  • @landyjd Totally agree there arent many off road vehicles here that dont have a ladder fram chassis, i still cant see it being able to rival say a Toyota land cruiser 70 with a Flat deck, Dog cage or carry tray on the back, and while i know that land cruisers arent exactly cheap it does have a V8 diesel and for maybe the same money youd get a new one of these with a 4cylinder diesel, i think also it will have to be priced alot better than the current defender eg.

  • @NickSullivan123 The thing about the Defender is it is really versatile with many different body styles. I don't think that the utes have quite as big a carrying capacity as Land Cruisers/Hilux's (though I could be wrong) because of the fact they have coils all around. However, if you need a utilitarian vehicle and you intend to spend a lot of time in serious off-road conditions then the Defender will go further off-road than any of the other utilitarian offerings.

  • @NickSullivan123 In terms of price, things to consider are the more labour intensive contruction of the Defender, the more upmarket interior (though the ride is not necessarily any better than other utes/4x4's) and the fact it is made of aluminium which I believe is a bit more costly. The Land Rover badge also adds to the price, as with all the prestigious European brands, and the Defender badge also has a lot of history.

  • @landyjd True, but yeah i just cant see people walking past there Toyotas and Nissan's and walking into a land rover dealership, and i know land rovers build quality is alot better than it used to be but would it be capable of doing 200,000km with out anything crapping out? They will go alot further off road especially when fitted with off road tyres and terrain response system. it does carry alot of history, im sure you will agree, but i dont want to see it to into a fashion icon either!!

  • @NickSullivan123 You are right, which is why you see a lot more Hilux's etc. around than Defenders (price is a big issue). But most people still have a soft spot for the Defender. The squared off look of the current model is actually a really good look for a 4wd; it is a satisfying shape. The DC100 concept is just not up to carrying on the Defender line. If you saw the DC100 parked next to a Series 1 you would not see any real link, unlike with the Defender which is a true continuation.

  • Mini cooper cute 4x4 enthusiasts were surprised English classic compact car. I really can not destroy the lineage, inheritance, and prestige of a defense and replace it with this nonsense. murder is the worst that can be done

  • More capable off road? What about rubber? Mud terrains on 20 inch rims? At least with 16's more tyre choice. Bigger side walls more bite. Other than that it's ok.

  • I don't get it, does he has a British or an American accent?

  • @TheOne42 He's British, my Swedish friend LOL

  • This is much better idea than the Evoque.

  • look cool but for some reason it reminded me of powerwheel and matchbox

  • I'm gonna be weirdo but please make a long wheel base version like the 110.

  • the next jermy clarkson,

  • It looks like from Lego!!

  • @arashn89 He says more capable than BOTH, not Bentley lol

  • description: MakIIng

    check your spelling insideline

  • as an american ive been a jeep man. but if they do something with the front end im sold.

  • I know where there are 2 landrovers, or old Toyota Landcruisers sitting in a field, thinking i should go rescue them. Just need a garage to do that.

  • Defender looks much better.

  • Please, for the love of God, don't make this. Give us the old 110 and be done with it.

  • looks like a nissan exterra

  • Landrover:

If I wanted an FJ Cruiser, I would have bought one....

Please don't screw this up. We here in the US would be very happy if you 1. took the existing design, 2. did the bare minimum to it to get it up to US safety standards and 3. put it on a damn boat to your US dealers.

Do this test. If you put the Landies for each year since 1948 next to each other, you would instantaneously be able to tell it was the same truck. Do that with the DC100 and you will not get the same result.

  • What have they done to this classic :-( now it looks just like all the others on the market.

Please call it something else, it never will be a new Defender.

  • did anyone notice at 0:32 he mentions that it is more capable than the Bentley LR2.... what is a Bentley LR2 LOL

  • @arashn89 both!!!! LR2 and evoque... --.-- newbie

  • @EvoXfreak cool fanboy

  • @arashn89 ... newbie

  • this looks like an fj cruiser had a baby with the ford bronco concept

  • i just wish i could get my hands on a current defender, they're not avalable here in the U.S.. If we want a "true" off-roader we have to go with the over priced, under powered, peice of shit, jeep wrangler.

  • crazy how car design has evolved/revolved... the old land rover they showed at the beginning almost looks current when you think of cars like the mercedes G class and some of the concepts that have been shown the last few years

  • The tires look like they cost more then my car.

  • can this one run for at least 10,000 miles and not break down/need service?

  • California Poser LOL u guys and your jeeps in the city too wtf

  • FJ Cruiser?

  • California poser. Haaha.

  • This guy has so much swag

  • @desimunda116 define swag?

  • @sakotaco16 Swag: Someone who has Swagga

  • @sakotaco16 swag => swagger => Walk or behave in a very confident and typically arrogant or aggressive way (boasting)

  • derp

  • The "California Poseur" is a good 65% of the US market of Land Rovers.

  • Comment removed

  • the child of G class dad and Fj cruiser mom lol

  • those tires look's like they came out from space
