Look carefully at this video, 5 carrer people try to wave in the wave 2 of the 5 largest attempting to leave the water in the wave 4, (minute 0.47) are the 5 people and two can escape, but to the right there is one that does not come from persom (min 0.48), even when the waves are removed.

I can't believe all of the candy-ass comments I see on this thread. Seriously, this is only dangerous if you're a complete tool that shouldn't have been in the ocean in the first place. Having lived in Hawaii for 9 years, I can tell you that these kinds of breaks are FUN! If anything, they should've been swimming TOWARDS this set of waves, where the H2O is much calmer. Tread water; chill; breathe; and ride a smaller one upshore.

Tourists die every year in Hawaii because they think waves are fun but they can be very, very dangerous if you dont know what you are doing out there. The state post tons of signs out at the beach warning of dangerous shore breaks and under tow but it never fails the tourist just ignore the signs then they sue the state later after they suffer major injuries or even worse...end up dead. Please people respect the waves...never, never, never turn your back to the ocean if you are at the beach.

@TheHolyMongolEmpire Not only does the person have to rollover so the head hits the sand first in a way that it will damage the neck, they have to get hit by the wave as it hits the sand, in other words, being taken to the sand with the wave is the equivelent of falling from the height of the wave, but landing in water, so they would have to get hit by the full power of the wave as it hits them which does not mean they can roll onto their head quick enough!
