Hi every one i was wondering if someone could answer my question: i am 13 years old and danced from when i was 6 to 10 i would gave needed 1/2 a year more to be on pointe. Recently i have started ballet again and im doing it 2 times a week. I can feel that i still have strong legs from the expirience but ofcorse i still need allot of training. Does someone have tips on how to improve my muscles so i can reachmy goal? And how long will it take for me to get on pointe??
Why do u don't if it's hard? Becuz without it u loose urself. There is Tonkin to strive for. We complain and complain inside or to other ppl but really deep inside us we are so truthfully fulfilled becuz we r doin that not many pll can succeed at in the world. Smthin that's our own. That's not fake and smthin from ur heart and soul. U think technique and everything but really it's the freedom of dance nd movement and ya u can hav perfect technique but it means nothin if u didn't put in ur perso
I love ballet. I wish I had trained at a ballet school from the beginning so that I could be a part of the beautiful world of ballet. I used to hate it when I was young, but it definitely makes you so so much stronger
the only thing that gets me is how thin these girls are. they are great, and their moves are beautiful, but when they extend i get scared they are going to snap. but what i mostly don't get it where their muscles are. these girls are pure bone. the dancers at my school are incredible and they have more muscle then the guys at 3:15. idk
@dance2damusic1 their muscle is flexible and long. Muscle does not have to be bulky and Hulk-esque to be there. I have thin arms, but I can lift the same amount of weight as the jock-ish guys in my school, because my muscle is long
@Karen1andKaren2 i guess so yeah. i've just never seen dancers, or really anybody that participates in physical activities, that looked that way. i guess you learn something new everyday.
@dance2damusic1 Because most professional ballet dancers have burned off literally all of the fat in their bodies. It's skin, bone, and muscle. Muscles don't have to be buff.
@Ballerina2654 well how many professional dancers do you talk too? I'm sure their feet hurt, and they have a pulled muscles somewhere and have a stress fracture coming on. They probably complain to friends, although they love it
If ballet is easy than u are doing it wrong, it was made to be hard to test our limits to test our bodies. showing people the steps are easy, but prefecting the steps is harder, making sure every move is perfect, a line is a line, a curve is a curve. i wouldnt ever say its not hard, because u were either born to be a dancer or u weren't. Its also not about being perfect, its about being graceful and ur stage pressence. I love to dance and i love ballet, i wouldnt ever give it up
@Ballerina2654@Ballerina2654 Through hard work, training, blisters, sweat & tears... you find your center, the synchronicity of muscles & music, & you can FLY in a jump, defy gravity in your every move.
It's the best high ever... the fruit of hard work & the magic of making it look effortless, graceful... Ballet is the ABC of dance, it's technique, perfection! To dance that way... it's part of your essence & life philosophy. If you don't get what I'm saying... then you probably shouldn't be dancing.
@Ballerina2654 There is something very satisfying about challenging yourself... Doing something that is extremely difficult doesn't mean you can't love it at the same time...
@Ballerina2654 it is hard. extremely hard. you make it sound like its easy.maybe professionals don't "complain" as much because they are what aspiring dancers are trying to be. you have to learn and train hard to be professional, that's where the "complaining" would come in. cause we are all only human, you aren't just born with professional skill. we feel like giving up sometimes, and there's nothing wrong with admitting its hard. but you still dance because there's nothing you want more.
@GawkyBallerina Of course. 0:01 was taken from a documentary on Uliana Lopatkina, and 0:55 was from a documentary entitled Dansaren, about a girl studying at ballet school.
The video is nice, but the audio is disgusting. Ballet is beautiful and this music is awful for ballet or any ballet video. I have complained often about ilyaballet's poor choice of music in his videos. I suggest you delete this video and do it over again with decent music. You can find some ballet music that would be appropriate for this struggling video, like maybe the fight scene between Nikiya and Gamzatti or the ending of Swan Lake when Rothbart is finally killed. This trash is disgusting.
@russianballetvideo Hi, I'm really sorry you don't like some of our music choices, but it is purely a matter of taste. I also thought the lyrics were appropriate for ballet e.g.
@panyatna I cannot hear the lyrics with that awful music. Then use the lrics and use nice music and I assume that you are unable to do that, so my suggestion is forget about the lyrics. Poor choice of music.
@panyatna I see that you are a student, so obviously you like music that I hate, so that is the crux of the problem. Ilyaballet likes hip-hop, so he will play hip-hop music instead of the actual La Fill Mal Gardee or Paquita music. You probably liek heavy metal and would prefer to play heavy metal to a ballet montage, rather than Tchaikovsky or other 19th cnetury ballet composers. I guess that I will not watch your home made videos from now on.
@russianballetvideo You're right, I am a student, but you will find more classical music in my collection than any other style. I don't like heavy metal music, this video was an experiment. I find the music expressive. If you have seen any of my other videos, you will notice that I have used classical music. I want to make videos that will appeal to everybody.
@panyatna I guess that we have a slightly diifernt opinion, as does ilyaballet. If someone wants to redo Swan Lake with contemporary music and the same choreography, i will forget about that version of Swan Lake or any other ballet with that frame of mind. Everyone has their own tastes and that is one reason that i rarely look at ilya ballet videos because I cannot stand watching class or rehearsal or performances or teachers talking, without the original audio. Usually original audio is best.
This is great! You really captured ballet training. It's so hard and some days you just want to walk out the door, but working that hard feels great and we love it anyway :)

@valuta211 It's part of the entrance exam to the Vaganova Academy. They examine their flexibility, turnout, feet, and natural musicality and jump.

@panyatna Thank you so much! One more question though- how about the clip at 3:24? Looks like a Vaganova documentary?
GawkyBallerina 1 year ago
@GawkyBallerina No, not a documentary on the school, a short film of Irina Kolesnikova, a past graduate of the school.

This time I wonder what it feels like
The one we all dream of
But dreams just aren't enough
So I´ll be waiting for the real thing.
I'll know it by the feeling.
So I`ll be holdin’ my own breath
Right up to the end
Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares.
