I'm pretty open to different genres of music, but would someone tell me the point of death metal or black metal and how long it's been around? @mariofan4523 Well, personally for myself, this music tends to lift a lot of depression off of me. There have been numerous times where I was falling asleep feeling like total shit. Then all I have to do is throw some Xasthur, Forgotten Tomb, Hypothermia, etc. on and I feel great afterwards...

Having suffered from depression myself, I usually have to get out in the fresh air and run around a track or get on a stairclimber. Exercise actually increases the seritonin levels in the brain, the feel good chemicals. Of course, chatting with people on line also is therapeutic for me. So thanks for the comment! For example, 80s rock like Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood I'lll listen to when I'm in a blue funk, but I might put in something like Elton John if I want to kick back and relax. I'm much more open minded to music than you think, although I do draw a line at some heavy metal like Metallica. shock rock like Manson and this black metal, which although the instrumentals are good, the vocals ruin it for me.
