I still see usplash at the start, why using two bootsplashes ?

doesn't xsplash load fast enough ?

I think they should focus on cutting the boot time down to the point where a splash screen is unneeded, like has been done with moblin. Splash screens are a major type of "fat" which needs to be trimmed. The moblin devs have the luxury of targeting certain hardware, but Ubuntu can remain generic while still getting a lot faster.

I've actually heard that mentioned, like when they get the boot down to ~10 seconds, (Their goal is to do that by 10.04 or 10.10 or something) they'll do away with the splash entirely.
