  • Dude, you are a talented and blessed guitarist... Enjoyed that clip...

  • ernie isley has an amazing solo on this song straight penitonic heaven mode

I dug it the first time I heard it and still do

  • Man, I love this! You are a great player man!

  • Brilliant - I absolutely love this. But hey, careful Warren, you'll have the Health & Safety police on to you with those strings - You'll have somebody's eye out .....

  • I was raised on the Isley Brothers, their 60's stuff. My fathers 45's etc along with a lot of JR Walker whom he played keys with some. He never had any of their 70's stuff, not that he didn't care for it just didn't have any 8 tracks of theirs. I recently found their 70's stuff to be badass. I'm actually picking up my guitar again I've been at film school and have a deep love for cinema but my love for music started it all. Keep it up sir and this, this demo is BADASSS!

  • Warren u are a great guitarist! Keep keeping on man!

  • I love listening to Warren playing, where can I listen to more of his stuff?

  • Oh my gosh....I'm taken back. I need to have you teach me. I just bought a guitar and don't know how to play but I love the playing of Ernie Isley, Hendrix and Eddie Hazel along with Mike Hampton.

  • God damn, Warren you beast, tear that shit up! Plumbdogg, can you get Warren to do some Eddie Hazel stuff? Like super Stupid?

  • Cool video!

  • your awesome

  • That's it boy!!

  • man i really enjoyed this..i wish i could do that thanks

  • Damn I remember this song from back when I was 16!! For a bunch of South Carolina white kids we sure were groovin. I LOVE IT!!

  • Warren...all I can isay s WOW.

If the CROWN is not on your head, its in your hands, and the rest is coming OMG

  • I am having trouble finding tab for this song. Can someone help me out?

  • one of their best tunes but no one I know knows it except some high school buddies...thanks man for posting this fantastic song...keep it up

  • You play very well man.

  • you got some soul man!

  • Thank you so much for this favorite song of a recently departed friend. I'm gonna work this great song out with my new band.

  • Warren is a genius. I wanna be him when I grow up.

  • I really enjoy your videos. You are definitely talented and obviously spend quality time discerning those Isley riffs.

Sweet! Keep em coming. Maybe I'll do one. Won't be as good as you, but it should be fun :)

  • Great! Really instructive and fun-great energy-Warren rules!

  • Very good instructional. I have played this video over and over to nail the solo and it's not just the notes being difficult but the rhythm of the solo. Keep posting more. Warren is just as sharp as Ernie in my book. What is Warren's background? Who does he play with?

  • Man if Ernie can't make a gig they should call Warren--he NAILS the leads!!

  • You are one Bad Man on that Guitar! I love it. Thanks, Keep it coming bro. put more of Ernie Tech on YOUTUBE, You are the S#@t.

  • Very smooth... I was looking for a video of the valve king and single coil pickups. Sounds great. I am getting a Gibson SG with single coils, and based of this I think single coils is going to sound really great on my valve king.

  • What a teacher!!!!! Thanks!!!! More, please!!!

  • badum dump badum da dump ba dump! History simplified! Maaaaaad thanks for posting.

  • great video!!! I'm learning it right now and can't get enough of it. BTW is there a place where I can get the sheet music for this song???

  • I can never find any Isley sheet music or tab. You gotta use your ears to learn their stuff. It makes for a good lesson though.:)

  • Warren is the BADDEST that I have seen in a long time and he is very comprehensive with info. Can you maybe ask Warren in time to break down Maggot Brain with Eddie Hazel on lead Thanks!!!!

  • hey can you guys break down killing floor hendrix version

  • i love this warren guy, great singer, great guitarist,i downloadded a few isley brothers after hearing this stuff and i like it, Warren looks like the type of blues player u would see in a club in chicago u you know :D i was readin the comments and someone said he had an accident :(, what happend? and is he allrite?

  • Man Plumbdogg, you gotta keep this dude givin lessons; I play guitar, but my ear is not too good (trying to learn songs from records), and this guy is my portal to learning the "black music" that I grew up listening to when my parents would play records and tapes...I hope he's well since the accident.

  • Hot !!!!! and Warren can sing good too.... That looks like a hard one to play

  • I'd kill to learn that riff-Does anyone have tabs for it?

  • loved that

  • WOw you know this one too? You're the guy that did the Strawberry Letter 23, right? I used to play this one many years ago.

  • Oh wait - different guy - same room.

  • same guy same room.:)

  • Oh yeah - just watched Strawberry letter again. You do an amazing job on both of these. I think I've got some video of my old band playing this one (Climbing Up The Ladder)20 years ago . BTW - one of the Isleys lived next door to my High School when I went there.

  • Way to break it down bro. Gotta give it up to the Strat! Best dayum guitar ever made. I played one in a live performance before, and it took my sound to another level. I went wild... good stuff

  • The Isleys rule. Great video. How about some more Isley and Brothers Johnson AND Chic stuff

  • I used to listen to this song in high school with my buddies...I love how it blends funk with rock...Isley Brothers!!

  • Hey you've got a voice too, but it's in the key of D dorian, other than that you get a perfect score man, thanks.

  • Dorian Shmorian. Just watch and learn .....

  • Dorian is not a key, dude. It's a mode of the major scale.

  • I know dude,it modulates to d dorian dude.

    Ok dude?

  • You said, "if it's in the key of D dorian" that's sloppy terminology.... dude.

  • Fair enough, end of story.

  • Ah! Youtube debating can be so vital to the survival of democracy in our nation. Thanks for being able to work this out peacefully. :)

  • Great sound man. Is that a regular strat? Looks like there's only 2 knobs and the lead goes in where the 3rd knob should be. What happened to the regular jack socket?

  • it's all stock. that's how it came in 1983. it's an American Standard 83' strat, sounds great and i don't have a regular bridge either, it's got a "freeflyte tremolo", strings drop in from top, not through back because there is no spring plate in back, my springs are under the pickgaurd. stays in tune and sounds great. it was my fathers strat, he bought it new in 83', gave it to me in 96' about.

  • Wow, so is the tone control connected to all 3 p/ups? BTW any tips on getting strats to stay in tune? Mine is a basic '97 Usa with a 2 post bridge, and if you breathe on the trem it goes off

  • tone controls all three pickups. make sure you get good wraps(3 minimun) on the tuning posts. you should have some type of set screw to adjust the tremolo action. i have mine so you have to give it a nice push to use. i never float the bridge because you will pull it out of tune every time you bend. mine is nice, firm and flush to the body of the guitar.

  • Thanks for that - I'll give it a try. Goin back to the vid. What's your setup for the burn section? Does Warren know what fx Ernie was using? Some kinda fuzz box I guess?

  • I found a setup on the guitargeek website. It won't let me post the exact url but I guess you'll be able to find it (Includes Roger Mayer Octavia pedal - There's one on ebay for 949 bucks!)

  • You should be registered as a public service to funk !!!!! That strat has the TONE. What's the rig? Not talkin 'bout the Ernie burn section - jus' the RIFF. Is this a basic strat with stock p/ups? Any pedals? Which amp? Damn, it sounds good .....

  • ha! thanks, it's an 83' strat going through a peavey valveking 112. what i did was run it through a Boss ME-50 with harmonizer set to double one octave below my signal and used the blend knob to get a balanced, even tone.

  • very cool. I bought the album back in the 70s, had it on tape after that, gotta get the cd in 2007. wow. glad you guys put this video together, great job.

  • this is a great riff that no one knows about

  • You really broke this Mutha down my brother!!!Good ass job......hell yeah!

  • You are awesome brother! Us young players have a lot to learn. There are so many guys trying to play as fast as they can and treat music like a sport, but have no idea how to feel the groove.

  • Old skool at it's best. Keep up the excellent work. We are watching you.

  • dude you are a little off of this song,

  • care to elaborate?

  • I want to see you play this and put a video up... please

  • This is a rare find. Not many Isley even know about this song. Adding to favorites thanks for the rifs PLUMBdogg.

  • Yeah people knowing about this song is just like people knowing Midnight Sky or Stone Cold Lover by the Isley Brothers. Very underrated songs, and nice Ernie solos. AS SOON as I get a camera I'll post how to play these :) unless Warren beats me to it

  • Nice Playing! Got that Hendrix sound all over it!!

  • Yep. I think it comes from Jimi's riff on WE GOT TO LIVE TOGETHER off Band of Gypsy's. Which Jimi got from Ike Turner on BOLD SOUL SISTER.

  • but great job on the Isley covers man... you have great taste and Ernie would be proud

  • PLUMBdogg I challenge you... (as soon as I get a decent camera).

Im only 20 but I've been playing Isley Brothers for half of it. I can play who's that lady like nobody's business

  • Well lets see how good you play..

It's hard to find any young person with that ol school feel, ya know what i mean,

  • For 30 years, I have been singing the praises of that cut! Still surprises me how few so called Isley Brothers fans have even heard of it. We used to rock the dorm room parties at Hampton U with that song! Thanks for the clip.

  • I'm with you 100%. That song, i have been rockin' since '77. Somebody should uggest that song for the "GUITAR HERO" game. It really should be on there.

  • thinks keep on livein,do your thing

  • Great playing! Get well soon :) What pedal is he using for the lead parts? It's pretty accurate.

  • thanks, i had to squeeze out as much as possible from my rig, it's a boss me-50 set to square wave fuzz and a little phaser. it sounds more accurate in person than the vid.

  • First time I seen ya...your not good, your great..

    Keep going...God Bless

  • good to see you back

  • yeah!, he ain't 100% yet so we kept the vids short cuz that guitar gets pretty heavy.

  • too bad you werent recording with a better camera.

    -thee elliot mitchell

  • yeah! it ain't the camera though, it's that stupid fucking flourescent light in my basement, he's standing under it. that thing makes my strat hum like monica lewinsky too!

  • lol, understandable man.

    you guys rock.

    -thee elliot mitchell
