It's called smile and tears, or the second version of eight melodyes, you go through all the 8 "your sanctuaries" at the game to complete this song, and enter at the world of your mind, AKA magicant, so you and the entire world can fuse powers to defeat gyigas.

Easily ranks as one of the best final boss battles in an rpg. Not necessarily because it's hard, but because it's very intense. The theme for the first part of the battle is kickass, then the second part is all eerie and unsettling. It really does feel hopeless.

Earthbound is probably my favorite game ever, next to Resident Evil 4 and Megaman 2.

Alright! Earthbound! A true classic of a game. Unfortunately, not enough people feel the same way. This is definitely classic material. The sequel to this, Mother 3 has music which is even more epic than this. I still love "Smiles and Tears" though. Sappy, I know, but something about that one just makes it endearing. IDK, maybe it's just me.
