To be honest both sides in this hole "sell out" thing are right. Tbh I don't think they wrote all of I Was A Teenage Anarchist, just doesn't sound like all of the words came from Gabel's mouth if any and when he plays it live he doesn't look like he's enjoying it. One by One/ Unprotected... give a better understanding of why the left the Punk rock 'scene' in which they admit themselves money comes into it. But hey ignore I Was A Teenage Anarchist and every song by them is epic.

i love against me! they're amazing, regardless of whether you're talking about the old or new it doesn't matter. its all still awesome. saw them live for my 3rd time last night, and it was sick, they put on fantastic shows :D

i don't think that they sold out, it's just that when i listen to against me i wanna feel something, something that i have never felt with any other band. but their new stuff is just, well vapid. all their songs were very meta. now i find myself singing along with a blank mind. theyre music is still good, but i feel like they lost what they stood for.

To everyone who keeps complaining about how Against Me! sold out and aren't real musicians anymore and sadface ohno their music is different, good luck finding any band (or person) ever that isn't going to change with time. I actually think a big part of Against Me!'s change stems from them realizing that it isn't worthwhile to try to subscribe to some sort of elitist group beliefs (anarchism being one)

How is making diluted pop music staying relevant? Some bands do experiment, for example when what seems to be everybody's favorite band now-a-days, DKM lost their original singer. But how did they get back on track? (besides putting out an album that was half traditional songs) was to get back to basics. I will say that if for whatever reason AM's next album is like their old shit, then, I did speak too soon. But let's face it, these guys have been dropping the ball for years now

Can someone please explain and validate the whole "They've just grown up" argument cause I'm afraid I don't get how anyone could say that about Against Me! The sound has changed...drastically, whether that's good or bad is a matter of perception I suppose. Sounds like selling out to me. Seriously, go listen to some super-old against me. They were one of the most soulful bands I had ever heard. But challenge accepted: I listened to the entire album, every song besides ache with me and rapid decompression was terrible, and neither of those were particularly great. This isn't true punk, and that statement makes it obvious you've never been to a real punk show. Steve Martin is more punk than this. Try Defiance Ohio or Soophie Nun Squad
