  • A happy New Years song from George Harrison. :)

  • @xxTitanicRocksxx This was more of a New Years song.

  • Dhani and Olivia should release Video Collection of George

  • I love this song! And more likeky is that Ringo here on the drums

  • George originally wrote this song for Ronnie Spector and then did it himself, and said it was a strain to sing because he'd written the song for a woman's vocal range! (Which must be why when I first heard this song as a kid I thought it was a woman singing!). The lyrics come from phrases literally inscribed in and around George's Friar Park mansion. "Ring out the old..." is a line of Tennyson's that the original owner of Friar Park, Sir Francis Crisp, had carved on George's fireplace.

  • was this released on an album or...?

  • yes on george harrison's 1974 album: DARK HORSE

  • rock on geo

  • I, too, saw George on this tour, in Montreal. It was my first big rock concert. I was disappointed in his voice, and Ravi Shankar was ill in Chicago. Best song on the album is 'So Sad.'

  • brilliant!!

  • The chorus melody, "Ding Dong Ding Dong" also starts Paul McCartney's, "Let em In". And my clock in my living room. Doesn't Big Ben in London make this melody also?

  • I love the song BUT is this a video transfer a copy of a copy of a copy?...ouch!

  • you speak the truth my faithful indian companion

  • I'm playing this at midnight tomorrow as we "ring out the old, ring in the new" on New Year's Day. HAPPY 2007 EVERYONE!!!

  • Another under-rated George song- this vdeo is cool with all the Beatles outfits and I love the album- it got a ton or airplay at the time...I remember hearing Far East Man all the time-

  • are there any quality copies of this footage out there? i always see this one.

  • Always deeply emotional...dear George!!! We miss you so much!!!

  • First time viewing of the video of one of my favs from Harri. Somewhere in my vinyls I have the orig. audio. hairypolack, don't you think that perhaps he was demonstrating the "old" that he was ringing out when he showed you the old personnas he held?

  • good point

    i get it now

  • Was this before he recorded "The Pirate Song" for Eric Idle's show "Rutland Live"? And it's alittle ahead of "Time Bandits" with those little people in pirate getups too.

  • Arrr! Happy Crimble!

  • If he was really trying to make an identity apart from the fab 4

why wear the mop top costume

I wonder if he had the original or they made a copy fo r the video

  • um, ring out the old, ring out the new?

    Check out your door bell....

  • Another great rare one. Can play this one at Ceaser's palace Frank! ( on wait, he's gone too )

  • This video is first time to see for me.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • His belief system in all things good are how are mine have been for years and still are today! What things they are like wholesome innocence, abstinence, everything good are like the way I was born and raised a Methodist and got saved at that church but, then, when things got too political, I converted to being a Christian Scientist which is someone who believes in the Bible and in God and the power of natural healing and it's right but, going to the doctor is allowed, too.

  • So you like George, are a big fan of F1 racing also?

Man he could make his Ferrari go!

  • @shelly36 I've heard of Christian Scientists. Thats what Monkee Mike Nesmith is. Alot of people who don't know any better get that confused with Scientology, VERY, VERY differant.

  • Stunner he was. Stood for wholesome innocence, abstinence, everything good. Brings out the Charlotte York in me!

  • George was great. I wish he was still around!

  • Hahaha, George is BRILLIANT!

    What a human being!

    And what a superb musician!

  • Love, love, love this song; it's the ultimate New Year's Eve song!! God bless beautiful dark horse George Harrison eternally. :)
