The problem with Medicare in the US is that it is being grossly abused by doctors and patients alike for treating minor illnesses, performing excessive check-ups, administering expensive preventive medications when Medicare beneficiaries are in relatively good health and also defrauded by crooks with false medical claims using stolen identities.
In fact if abuse and defraud problems were seriously dealt with by the government in the past years, Medicare should have been in a much better financial shape than it is now in and there should have been more financial resources to provide aids to poor Americans with life-threatening illnesses instead of rejecting them for not qualifying for Medicare and forcing insurance companies to accept them with pre-existing conditions.
Forcing poor Americans to buy health insurance under the threat of fine and jail if fine is not paid is not only against the U.S. Constitution, it is also like forcing poor Americans to be fleeced by private insurance companies which will increase the premiums year after year especially when they need to make-up for the loss in accepting patients with pre-existing conditions.
When people lose their jobs and default on insurance payments, they will lose their health coverage as well.

Public health care should be funded by general taxation as in Canada and not by forcing poor Americans to buy health insurance as in Obamacare.
The problem with Medicare in the US is that it is being grossly abused by doctors and patients alike for treating minor illnesses, performing excessive check-ups, administering expensive preventive medications when Medicare beneficiaries are in relatively good health and also defrauded by crooks with false medical claims using stolen identities.

Forcing poor Americans to buy health insurance under the threat of fine and jail if fine is not paid is not only against the U.S. Constitution, it is also like forcing poor Americans to be fleeced by private insurance companies which will increase the premiums year after year especially when they need to make-up for the loss in accepting patients with pre-existing conditions.

If they do not pay or are unable to pay the heavy fine, they will be put in jail. The US Constitution forbids Americans to be punished in any way for not buying something. Fine is a form of punishment, so insurance mandate with threat of fine is unconstitutional.
Obamacare is not free public healthcare funded by general taxes as in Canada. Don't be ignorant about Obamacare.

It's not a perfect system, but I never had a friend who had to go through the horrible pain of a kidney stone because she was too stupid not to be poor until I met a US girl with that problem.
