It is in some way good to try and repair a relationship but what that person has to realise is that, that person still cheated. If someone cheats on you, why would you want them to get back together and then they do it again. Cheating is wrong, the person you cheat on is going to upset them for life.
I think it has to be based on an individual basis. Forgiving is very hard and the worse type of cheating is the type thats core is emotional and not just sexual.
I believe both parties have to have a strength to either work it through or walk away. Without that strength either party is just a steaming pot ready to burst at any moment, which is no good for anyone. Not everyone is that strong and you can't blame them. Forgiveness and trust are not easy things to give to another.
The only person that I "knew" cheated on me was a man I had newly established a relationship with.
If there were any little disagreements it turned out that he was bedding other women and I didn't know.
This man was a person of loose morals and not one who would ever be deserving of my trust. Completely different than a partner who may have slipped and the relationship could be salvaged.

WOW, i have been there as the one who was cheated upon and it has been a few years, but still the 100 percent trust has not been there since, and it hurts still, and I dont know if it will ever be 100 percent again.. but i belive it is a matter of choice to continue with the relationship or just let it go and move on, i sometimes wonder what life would be if i had chose to stop the marriage, but you cant live like that you just go on and hope they will remain true to you ..

It is in some way good to try and repair a relationship but what that person has to realise is that, that person still cheated. If someone cheats on you, why would you want them to get back together and then they do it again. Cheating is wrong, the person you cheat on is going to upset them for life.

I think it has to be based on an individual basis. Forgiving is very hard and the worse type of cheating is the type thats core is emotional and not just sexual.
I believe both parties have to have a strength to either work it through or walk away. Without that strength either party is just a steaming pot ready to burst at any moment, which is no good for anyone. Not everyone is that strong and you can't blame them. Forgiveness and trust are not easy things to give to another.

The only person that I "knew" cheated on me was a man I had newly established a relationship with.
If there were any little disagreements it turned out that he was bedding other women and I didn't know.
This man was a person of loose morals and not one who would ever be deserving of my trust. Completely different than a partner who may have slipped and the relationship could be salvaged.
Boy I'm long winded sometimes.

Cheating is a symptom of something that is seriously wrong in the relationship, but it isn't a death blow. It can be, but isn't necessary one. The root problem is what needs to be focused on, not the symptom.

I think you got it wrong about this one DS.
There is no forgiving a cheater, to lose trust once is to lose it again in the future.
You have to cut ties, even if it hurts you.
Even if they never cheat on you again, they will break your trust again.
